The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 22 at the Eden Gardens between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). That will be the third time the league’s final will occur at the Eden after 2013 and 2015, alongside the second qualifier.

The other two playoff fixtures, the first qualifier, and the Eliminator, will happen at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, as the Sunrisers finished as the runners-up of the previous season. The 2025 season of the IPL will feature 74 encounters over 65 days and 12 double-headers.

Delhi Capitals to start IPL 2025 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants

The second encounter of the season will take place between the SRH and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the first of the doubleheader on March 23, with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosting arch-rival Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Delhi Capitals (DC), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Gujarat Titans (GT), and the Royals will play three afternoon games, while the other six franchises will take part in two-day fixtures, which will begin at 3:30 pm IST.

The primary 10 home bases will host the tournament, besides an addition of three more grounds. Royals’ second home venue Guwahati, and Capitals’ second home Visakhapatnam, will host two games, while Dharamshala, the second home ground for the Punjab Kings (PBKS), will host three encounters in the upcoming season against DC, LSG, and MI.

All of these three games will be played in a week from May 04 to 11, which means that the Shreyas Iyer-led side will be the only side to be busy in playing three successive games with breaks of one or two days, something which the other franchises won’t do.

IPL 2025 teams split into these two groups

The two five-champion sides, CSK and MI, are in two different groups but still will face each other twice in the season. Along with MI, their group will feature LSG, DC, GT, and SRH. In the first group, Super Kings have shaken hands with the Knight Riders, Punjab, Royals, and Bengaluru.

In the upcoming IPL season, teams will play the other sides in the same group and one team in the opposite group twice, while the other four teams in the opposite group will only play once. The second part of the El Classico between Yellow and Blue will take place on April 20 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Four sides- RCB, Mumbai, PBKS, and Lucknow will play their opening game away and enter the home ground only in April. The Bengaluru side will end this season’s group stage with four home games in the last six league fixtures at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Gujarat Titans to host CSK On This Date

The Narendra Modi Stadium, home of the IPL 2022 champions, will host their opening game against the Punjab Kings before they host the Mumbai Indians in their next clash. On April 03, the Knight Riders will face the previous season's runner-up, SRH, at home.
