The travel plans of IPL 2025 teams have been disrupted due to "Operation Sindoor" and heightened security measures in states along the India-Pakistan border.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), who were already in Dharamsala for their match, along with other teams, are scheduled to travel to the city.
India-Pakistan tensions are at an all-time high
Airports in several border regions — including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot — have been shut down until 5:30 AM IST on May 10.
As a result, multiple airlines have suspended flights and issued travel advisories warning of potential disruptions.
Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals IPL 2025 match to go as planned
Punjab Kings will host Delhi Capitals at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on May 8, with both teams already present in the city ahead of the IPL 2025 match.
According to the Times of India, the fixture is expected to proceed as scheduled unless there are directives to the contrary from the Indian government.
So far, neither Punjab nor Delhi has received any updates from the BCCI regarding the travel situation. However, the Mumbai Indians' travel plans may be impacted. The Hardik Pandya-led side is currently in Mumbai following their recent match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday.
Mumbai Indians might suffer as the Dharamshala airport shuts after Operation Sindoor
According to the Times of India, IPL teams and the BCCI are exploring alternative travel arrangements due to the closure of Dharamsala airport, as well as nearby airports in Amritsar and Chandigarh.
With Chandigarh airport also shut, teams may be forced to travel to Dharamsala by road from Delhi. Officials stated they are closely monitoring government advisories and will make decisions based on the evolving situation.
"We will have to wait and watch for now. There is no option because even the Chandigarh airport is shut, so we need to see what can be done. Two teams are already here, and MI were supposed to arrive later this week for their match on May 11."
"The nearest option is the Delhi airport, but that would mean a long road journey for the teams. We are tracking government advisories and will take the call as necessary," said a senior BCCI official on the IPL 2025 future.
Punjab Kings will host MI on May 11 in an IPL 2025 day game in Dharamshala as both teams will look to confirm a playoff spot.
