The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is in the same situation as their opponents for the next game, the Chennai Super Kings. They also started the event with a fine victory against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad before failing in four successive games.
Abhishek Sharma’s cracking century against the Punjab Kings came as a blue moon for the franchise before they suffered another defeat against the Mumbai Indians. They are currently in the ninth position among the ten franchises, with a net run rate of -1.217.
SRH will face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 25, 2025, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, in Chennai.
IPL 2025: SRH Playing XI vs CSK- Match 43
Openers- Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma
Against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, it was a very poor performance from the batters. Travis Head couldn’t get the bat on the ball for so many deliveries early in the innings for SRH before he went back to the pavilion for 28 runs in 29 balls.

Abhishek Sharma got a life on the first ball of the innings as Will Jacks dropped an easy catch at the slip position. The veteran also got a few more chances while batting, but he was not able to convert them to a big score and was dismissed for 40 runs in 28 balls at a strike rate of 142.86.
Head is the leading run-getter of SRH with 242 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of nearly 170, while Abhishek has managed 232 runs at a strike rate of 168.
Middle order- Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klassen (wk), Aniket Verma, Nitish Reddy, Pat Cummins (c)
Ishan Kishan, since the century in the opening game of the fixture, didn’t get the same result off his blade in the tournament. The left-handed batter has not looked fluent with the bat in most previous knocks and has found the fielder on most occasions.
There was so much expectation from Nitish Reddy, who made his debut for the national side last year and performed with a century against Australia in the longest format. But he seemed to be fighting with himself on whether he would be a balanced player or go with aggression for SRH.
Heinrich Klassen was another reason for the Sunrisers to reach the final of the season. But the wicket-keeper batter couldn’t do much in the competition as he failed to get a bat on the full tosses from the previous encounter.
Pat Cummins, the leader, was excellent for SRH with a decent bowling figure of 3/26 in his four overs. On a slow Chennai surface, he could prove to be a vital member of the bowling department.
Bowlers- Rahul Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel, Eshan Malinga (Impact)
Rahul Chahar and Zeeshan Ansari’s roles will be critical for SRH against a side where most batters struggled against the leg spinners. But for that, it will be vital for Mohammed Shami to use the new ball well and pick up wickets at the top without leaking many runs.

Harshal Patel could be another bowler to bring impact in the contest as his slower balls could grip the surface. Eshan Malinga is the new death-over specialist for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.
