The 2016 champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), were anticipated to be the first franchise of the tournament to cross the 300-run mark. But after two successive defeats, they just want to get back on the winning track.
Sunrisers started the campaign with a bang, putting 280+ runs on the board in the first innings against the Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. But they went too hard against the opponent bowlers in the next two clashes and kept on losing wickets regularly.
It was Aniket Verma for whom they could post a respectable total on the board against the Delhi Capitals in Vizag. But at number eight, SRH only hopes to change its fortune.
IPL 2025: SRH Playing XI vs KKR- Match 15
Openers- Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head
One of the biggest contributions from the previous season was the opening stand between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The duo nailed over 450 runs at a strike rate of 190+ to help them get to the final and end as the runners-up of the tournament.

SRH hasn’t had the same number of runs from both players in the new season. Head is currently the fourth leading run-getter of the season with 136 runs in three innings at an average of 45.33 and a strike rate of 191.54, having on one half-century.
However, along with Head, Abhishek Sharma is yet to contribute to the scorecard with three successive low scores in the event. In the very first game, he clubbed the short ball straight to the fielder before repeating the same mistake in the second encounter. In the case of the third game, it was just a lazy run that brought his dismissal in the third fixture.
Middle order- Ishan Kishan, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klassen (wk), Aniket Verma, Atharva Taide/Abhinav Manohar
Ishan Kishan celebrated a fine century during the opening fixture of the IPL 2025 for SRH against Rajasthan, but returned with a first-ball duck in the second game. In the third fixture, he found the hands of the third-man fielder.
Nitish Reddy, despite making his debut for the national side, hasn’t been able to bring the X-factor to the game. Quite surprisingly, he is yet to bowl in the IPL 2025, while they can replace Abhinav Manohar with Atharva Taide in the middle.
Heinrich Klassen has smacked 92 runs in just three innings at a strike rate of 184, with the best score of 34. If the top order starts to do well, he can show his power in the lower order. But the biggest bright spot for the franchise is Aniket Verma, who celebrated a fine half-century in the previous clash against Delhi.
Bowlers: Zeeshan Ansari, Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins (c), Harshal Patel, Adam Zampa (Impact)
Zeeshan Ansari picked up a couple of wickets in the last encounter for SRH, while the other pacers have not done well. The three premier pacers, Pat Cummins, Mohammed Shami, and Harshal Patel, have been nailed for so many runs around the park.
That’s a reason why the SRH management may look to add the left-arm pacer of Jaydev Unadkat on the side, besides going with one of Adam Zampa and Kamindu Mendis.
