The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), despite putting in a strong show of over 280 runs against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the very first game of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, haven’t hit the ground running.

They lost their next four successive encounters against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, and the Kolkata Knight Riders to get down to the bottom of the points table with a huge negative net rate. It’s a now-or-never situation for the 2016 champions.

SRH will now meet the Punjab Kings at home for their next encounter on March 12, 2025.

IPL 2025: SRH Playing XI vs PBKS- Match 27

Openers- Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head

Many fans predicted that SRH would put over 300 runs on the board in one of the games of the 2025 edition of the league. But they are in a spot of bother with the bat in the last few games.

One of the reasons for that has been their struggling opening partnership. For the last two games, Travis Head has been dismissed on the second ball of the contest. On both occasions, he started with a boundary before the bowler became successful in foxing the southpaw.

Abhishek Sharma hasn’t done anything significant in the batting department. The left-handed batter has clubbed 51 runs in five innings at an average of 10.50 in the season, with just two scores in double-digits.

Middle order- Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klassen (wk.), Aniket Verma

Ishan Kishan started the tournament with a fine century in the very first game against the Royals, but he hasn’t been in the same mood since then. The left-handed batter, apart from the 100-run knock, has nailed just 27 runs in the four innings. In the last game, he got a decent start but couldn’t repeat the same golden performance that most of the fans expected of him.

Despite getting a spot on the national side, Nitish Kumar Reddy hasn’t taken responsibility. When SRH loses wickets, he goes into a shell,, making it incredibly hard for the other batters to put pressure on the opposition.

Heinrich Klassen has looked to take on the spinners. But he hasn’t found the right balance between aggression and defense in the last two games. The SRH management will now focus more on their uncapped find, Aniket Verma, from the next game. But the question is whether they can leave out Kamindu Mendis to bring Kamindu Mendis to the side.

Bowlers- Kamindu Mendis/Adam Zampa, Pat Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Shami, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel (Impact)

Pat Cummins, the SRH captain, will need to take a lot of responsibility with the ball, especially with the new ball inside the powerplay. Mohammed Shami has bowled well in the last two games and has picked up early wickets with the ball.

Jaydev Unadkat and Harshal Patel will be crucial for the sides’ death overs of bowling. They will use the slow balls brilliantly to fox the batters. Zeeshan Ansari hopes to take wickets with the old ball in the middle overs, and that will be vital for them to have an impact in the do-or-die clash.
