The previous SRH vs LSG contest of the Indian Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium saw the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) making fun of Lucknow’s bowling as they chased down 165 runs with 10 wickets in hand and more than 10 overs to spare.
The biggest issue for the Lucknow side in their opening game against the Delhi Capitals was their batting continuation at the death overs. They were 170/4 in 15 overs, after the dismissal of captain Rishabh Pant for six runs in as many deliveries.
Delhi captain, Axar Patel, leaked just six singles in the 16th over before Kuldeep Yadav dismissed both Ayush Badoni and Shardul Thakur in a gap of three deliveries. Thakur looked perplexed in the middle and fell short of the crease in trying to run a single.
Not a single boundary came for 15 balls before David Miller opened the bat face to time the short ball from Mohit Sharma into the backward point. Mitchell Starc gave away just six overs in the penultimate over, besides claiming the wickets of Ravi Bishnoi and Shahbaz Ahmed.

It looked hard for the Super Giants to cross the 200-run mark, but Miller’s two sixes on the last couple of balls took them to 209/8. They managed just 39 runs for the loss of four wickets in the final phase of five overs in the innings. But they will look to do better in the SRH vs LSG encounter.
It was a different story for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were 208/3 in 15 overs. Ishan Kishan’s century saw them adding 78 runs in the last five overs to end on 286/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Heinrich Klassen also smashed 34 runs in 14 balls, while Aniket Verma swung his willow for a sweet six.
They hope to continue the same aggression in the SRH vs LSG encounter, especially against a weak-looking bowling line-up of the Lucknow Super Giants.
