The runners-up of the last season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will lock horns with the inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals, for the event’s second encounter on March 23, 2025. This SRH vs RR clash will occur at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Last year, Hyderabad finished in the second position in the group stage of the tournament with eight victories and five defeats thanks to the net run rate of +0.414. The Royals, on the other hand, were just behind them at number three with the mirror image numbers.
SRH didn’t go off to a flying start in the season with two defeats in the first three encounters. But they earned four successive wins to get back on track. A few defeats suffered on their road to the playoffs, but most of their victories came at a huge rate, which strengthened their net run rate.

Rajasthan, on the other hand, had a fantastic start to the IPL 2024. In the first nine group-stage encounters, they won eight matches. But suddenly, they got off the track with four consecutive defeats.
Their vital clash against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ended in a no-result due to rain. They eliminated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the knockout game but lost the second qualifier in the SRH vs RR fixture.

Both sides have made some crucial changes in their squads. Most notably, Rajasthan will be without Jos Buttler after seven seasons, which is a huge blow for them in the opening partnership. They also won’t have the services of two premier Indian spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, and the left-arm pacer Trent Boult.
Hyderabad has nearly retained its base from the last edition. Mohammad Shami and Adam Zampa’s inclusion will make their bowling more powerplay. Harshal Patel will have the onus to contribute in the death overs (16-20).
Due to injury, Sanju Samson won’t captain Rajasthan for the first three group-stage encounters, including the SRH vs. RR clash. The management has assigned the responsibility to the middle-order batter, Riyan Parag.
