The remainder of the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will resume on May 17 and end on June 03, as the governing council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared on Monday night.
During the last encounter between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, the BCCI suspended the event after the tense situation at the border between the two neighboring countries, India and Pakistan.
IPL 2025 to restart on May 17
The remainder of the tournament, which was suspended on May 9, will happen at six venues.
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Bajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the IPL 2025.

BCCI has not revealed the grounds for the playoffs, but the games have been pushed back by a week. The first qualifier will take place on May 29, before the eliminator occurs on the following day. On June 1, the second qualifier will take place before the all-important final on June 03.
A total of 17 clashes will get under proceedings after the resumption, with two double headers, both on Sundays, in Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
The revised schedule features 13 league games and four knockout games. This has led to the Punjab and Delhi side to restart their unfinished game from the first ball on May 24 in Jaipur, which will be the temporary home base for Punjab.
Two days later, the Shreyas Iyer-led side will host the Mumbai Indians (MI), a game which at first was going to take place on May 11 in Dharamsala. The second part of the IPL 2025 will happen between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
No more IPL 2025 clash for MS Dhoni in Chennai
On the first double-header day, Rajasthan will meet Punjab in the day game before Delhi locks horns with Gujarat in the evening. A week later, on May 25, Gujarat will host the Chennai Super Kings in the afternoon fixture, while the Sunrisers will face Kolkata in Delhi.
The last league game will be between the Lucknow Super Giants and Bengaluru in Lucknow. Due to the changes, Punjab, Chennai, and Hyderabad won’t get any home games. CSK and SRH are out of the playoffs, while Punjab will feel unlucky to play their last two remaining games at a neutral venue.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the resumption of the TATA IPL 2025. After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season.” The media statement revealed.
IPL franchises face an issue with overseas players’ arrival
The delayed finish of the league means it will coincide with the upcoming ODI series between England and the West Indies, starting on May 29 at Edgbaston and ending on June 03 at the Kennington Oval. Romario Shepherd, Shamar Joseph, and Sherfane Rutherford, all of these players picked in the national squad, will need to make a major decision.
Along with it, the WTC 2023-25 final between Australia and South Africa will begin on June 11 at Lord’s, just a week after the end of the event.
The revised schedule will also impact India’s trip to England, which is scheduled to begin on May 30, for two unofficial games in Canterbury and Northampton. With most foreign players flying back home, it will be a challenge for the IPL franchises to reassemble them before next Saturday.
