Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Pollock, two former international cricket players, have offered their predictions for the top two IPL 2025 teams.
It's noteworthy that the Gujarat Titans (GT) were left off of Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Pollock's list of top contenders at the end of the group round.
In their most recent IPL 2025 match, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday.
Delhi, one of the most reliable teams in 2025, suffered its third loss in five games. The outcome has made it possible to choose the last four qualifiers in a variety of ways.
Adam Gilchrist names his two choices for the top 2 finishes in IPL 2025
Adam Gilchrist identified the teams most likely to place in the top two spots of the IPL 2025 standings during a discussion on Cricbuzz.
Adam Gilchrist selected the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
"RCB and Mumbai are in 1 and 2, aren't they? I think the way Virat's controlling innings and run chases, coupled with the skill of Hazelwood at the moment, is sublime. So I think there's plenty of talent around them. But I'm saying the two that are there will be 1 and 2," Adam Gilchrist said.

According to Shaun Pollock, the Mumbai Indians will likely win the IPL 2025 championship. At least three of their remaining games would be victories, he said.
Additionally, Pollock predicted that Royal Challengers Bengaluru would place second in the 10-team standings.
"I can't see Mumbai faltering. I think they're going to win at least three or so of their next games. Yeah, I actually think Mumbai is going to finish on top. At the moment, Mumbai looks like the most dangerous side — the most in-form team with the most players performing consistently in the XI.
And if you add to that, I was thinking RCB might come second. Looking at their remaining fixtures, I don’t see them losing more than one — maybe they win two or even three of their last four. So I’d say those two teams," Shaun Pollock added.

RCB and MI are dominating the opposition in IPL 2025
With 14 points so far, RCB is almost certain to qualify for the playoffs. Now, their main goal is to place in the top two, since this would increase their chances of making it to the final.
To secure a spot in the top four, RCB needs to win just two of the next four games of the season.
However, with six victories from ten games, the Mumbai Indians are in second position. The team captained by Hardik Pandya has won five straight games.
MI must win three of its next four games to guarantee a top-2 finish, and two wins might be sufficient to guarantee a postseason berth.
