Despite continuing tensions between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) will go on as usual. Regarding the future of their respective T20 competitions, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) both made their positions known.

The Indian military responded to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam by conducting precise airstrikes as part of "Operation Sindoor." Nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) were the focus of the operation. Tensions along the two nations' borders increased as a result.

The airstrikes resulted in the deaths of 60 terrorists and severely injured 70 more. Family members of Masood Azhar were killed as well.

IPL to Continue as Scheduled

Despite the prevailing global concerns, the IPL 2025 will go on without any disruptions. A BCCI official told ANI that all matches will go ahead as scheduled and that the current state of affairs will not affect the league's schedule.

Due to a variety of factors, the IPL has previously experienced multiple disruptions. Due to general elections in India, the competition was first hosted in South Africa in 2009.

IPL has been held outside earlier

Due to the Indian elections, the first round of the 2014 Indian Premier League was held in the United Arab Emirates from April 16 to April 30 before returning to India in May. The COVID-19 epidemic in 2020 caused the IPL to be postponed, moving the competition from March to September and to the United Arab Emirates.

As the COVID-19 situation worsened, the 2021 season was rescheduled from India to the United Arab Emirates. The competition made a comeback to India in 2022, but it was only held in four locations: Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Kolkata. The IPL didn't revert to its standard format until 2023.

PCB confirms PSL 10 to continue as planned

On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the Pakistan Super League will take place on time. The board confirmed that Islamabad United will play Quetta Gladiators at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium later today in a statement posted on its website.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that HBL Pakistan Super League X will continue as planned, with Islamabad United set to take on Quetta Gladiators later today at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Tonight's match sees the return of HBL PSL to Rawalpindi for four matches on 7, 8, 9, and 10 May. Thereafter, the final group stage match is scheduled in Multan on 11 May.

The Qualifier is set to take place in Rawalpindi on 13 May, while both Eliminators (1 and 2) and the Final of the marquee event are to take place on 14, 16, and 18 May, respectively, at the Gaddafi Stadium,” PCB statement read.
