Jason Gillespie, former Australia pacer and ex-Pakistan team Test coach, has talked candidly about the difficulties he had while playing for the Men in Green. Gillespie described the situation as frustrating and said that he had yet to get compensated for his services with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In April 2024, Jason Gillespie took over as coach of the Pakistan Test squad, but he left in December. The management's actions, which were taken without consulting him, disappointed him. After World Cup-winning coach and South African cricketer Gary Kirsten left, Gillespie also assumed leadership of the white-ball team.

There were highs and lows during the former Australia fast bowler's time as Pakistan's head coach, including a 2-1 victory over England and a 2-0 loss to Bangladesh in the home Test series.

Gillespie felt that his position had been reduced to that of a "match day strategist" during his tenure because he was not included in the selection panel and had no say in the team's starting lineup.

“I’m still waiting for my remuneration from the PCB”- Jason Gillespie

Gillespie quit after the Pakistan Cricket Board chose not to extend assistant coach Tim Nielsen's contract without telling him, even though he was eager to continue in this diminished role.

Jason Gillespie stated on the Pak Passion YouTube channel that he has yet to get payment for his labor. Gillespie is still hopeful that it will be resolved eventually.

"I'm still waiting on some remuneration from work that's being done. So I'll just navigate through that in due course. Admittedly, that's been a little bit disappointing, but hopefully that can get sorted sooner rather than later. But yeah, we'll learn. But yeah, as I said, hopefully that'll get sorted as soon as possible," Gillespie said.

Salman Ali Agha is a High-End Talent - Jason Gillespie

Salman Ali Agha, the captain of the Pakistan T20 team, was hailed by Gillespie in the same video as a top-tier talent. He admitted that there were certain players who might have been more concerned with their own performances than the success of the club.

"The fact that Salman Ali Agha was given that opportunity, I think he's a high-end talent. He's been around for a little while now. I think he's got a really mature head on his shoulders, and I think he can take things in his stride.

I reckon there were probably players, without naming names, I could probably identify some players who I felt from the outside were more playing for themselves than for the team, without going into details," he added.

The Pakistan Super League 2025 is presently being played by Pakistani athletes. With the current competition, the team will begin preparing for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
