In an attempt to resolve a financial disagreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has turned to the International Cricket Council (ICC). If not, the parties are prepared to settle their differences in court.

The PCB had brought in the former cricketer in April last year as the head coach of the Test team on a two-year term. But in December of last year, he decided to leave his position, and Aaqib Javed took his place.

Gillespie accuses PCB

In his first series as manager, Jason Gillespie lost shockingly to Bangladesh. Following the team's crushing defeat by England in the opening Test of the three-match series, he was also dropped from Pakistan's selection panel. Pakistan, however, recovered and won the series 2-1.

In the absence of Gary Kirsten, he later oversaw Pakistan's white-ball tour to Australia. Pakistan lost the T20I series under him, but they did win a historic ODI series in Australia.

"I'm still waiting on some remuneration from work that's being done. So I'll just navigate through that in due course. Admittedly, that's been a little bit disappointing, but hopefully that can get sorted sooner rather than later. But yeah, we'll learn. But yeah, as I said, hopefully that'll get sorted as soon as possible," Gillespie said on the PakPassion YouTube channel.

PCB refutes Jason Gillespie’s claim for unpaid dues

However, now the PCB has refuted claims of Gillespie of unpaid dues and stated that Gillespie himself had ‘abruptly’ terminated his contract.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board refutes claims made by a former head coach on the non-payment of his dues. The PCB spokesman states that the former head coach abruptly left his position without giving a four-month notice period, which was a clear breach of the contractual terms."

"The coaching contract explicitly mentioned a notice period applicable to both parties, and the coach was fully aware of it,” PCB stated in an official statement.

Jason Gillespie approaches the ICC to get PCB to pay him; if not will take matters to court

While Jason Gillespie and PCB parted ways last year, they have become entangled in a financial battle. The Australian great has accused the PCB of multiple contract violations, according to an ESPNcricinfo report. The PCB has responded by accusing the former Pakistan coach of failing to provide the board the four months of notice required by his contract.

According to the complaint, Jason Gillespie requested that PCB refund him any unpaid balances. Bonuses offered to him for leading Pakistan to victories in the Test series against England and the ODI series against Australia were among the rewards.

Jason Gillespie has brought the case to the ICC since the PCB has failed to clear the payment. It is still unclear, though, if the ICC has the authority to get involved.
