Along with India’s premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, several national players have picked up injuries before the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson, Avesh Khan, and many other pacers are seeking a go-ahead from the Centre of Excellence to join their respective franchises.

Mayank Yadav hasn’t played any comparative game for the Blue Brigade since his maiden series against Bangladesh at home. Bumrah has also been out of the national side since the Sydney Test in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, while Sanju Samson underwent a finger injury after the home series against England.

Jasprit Bumrah to be potentially available on this date for IPL 2025

Eyes are on Bumrah’s fitness, who missed the Champions Trophy 2025 with a back injury and is undergoing rehabilitation in Bengaluru. The reports have claimed that BCCI Sports Science chief Nitin Patel is monitoring the pacer, who underwent surgery in early 2023.

Bumrah may get the fitness clearance for the IPL 2025 by the end of the month, although it’s not certain when exactly he will be able to don the Mumbai Indians’ jersey. The five-time champions will play their opening game on the second day of the season, against Chennai Super Kings on March 23.

They will take on the Gujarat Titans on March 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Their first home game at the Wankhede Stadium on March 31 against the Kolkata Knight Riders could be the comeback contest for Bumrah. He could potentially join the MI camp earlier, but he is unlikely to travel with the team to Chennai and Ahmedabad.

Sanju Samson needs NCA clearance for wicket-keeping

Sanju Samson underwent surgery for a right index finger fracture. He passed the fitness test for batting and has joined the Rajasthan Royals camp. But he still needs to clear the NCA’s scrutiny for wicketkeeping. This may be some additional tests for keeping in the next couple of days before the RR captain receives full clearance.

The Royals have Dhruv Jurel in the squad, and he may need to step in for Samson behind the stump in the IPL 2025. They will play the first game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.

Samson has so far clubbed 4419 IPL runs in 163 innings at an average of nearly 31 and a strike rate of 139, shouldering on three centuries and 25 half-centuries at the best score of 119. In the last season, he drilled 531 runs in 15 innings at an average of 48.27 and a strike rate of 153.46.

LSG seeks pacers’ clearance for IPL 2025

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are waiting for the clearance of their three pacers, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan. Mayank has been suffering from back stress and has been out of action since October 2024. Avesh is undergoing rehab for knee cartilage. He took injections on the injury after coming to the NCA on the completion of Madhya Pradesh’s last game against Kerala in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

Mohsin Khan’s injury is not known. The left-arm pacer featured in a domestic game on December 31 between UP and Chandigarh.

Rishabh Pant’s army will hope to get at least two of these three pacers ready for the new season as they will take on the Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam on March 24. Their pace attack will be the backbone of the side for the new season.
