Before the Mumbai Indians (MI) play the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to return to the MI team. A formal release featuring his wife, Sanjana Ganesan, and son, Angad, on the team's social media channel confirmed his return, creating anticipation among fans before the match.
The BCCI's Centre of Excellence has granted Bumrah medical clearance. He must, however, complete match simulations before being deemed completely healthy to compete. When the Mumbai Indians meet the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2025 Indian Premier League, the 31-year-old bowler may make a comeback to the starting lineup.
Bumrah, the leader of the pack
Since making his debut in 2013, Bumrah has been an essential member of the Mumbai Indians' bowling team. In 133 games, he has claimed 165 wickets. Due to a back issue, the pacer only missed the 2023 season.
He was rehabilitated after sustaining the injury during the Sydney Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test.
Prior to the big auction, the Mumbai Indians paid the franchise a record sum of INR 18 crore to retain him. MI also gave Ashwani Kumar and Satyanarayana Raju, two quick bowlers, their IPL debuts. In contrast to Raju, who hasn't shown much this season, Kumar claimed four wickets against KKR.
MI reveals Jasprit Bumrah’s return; Sanjana Ganesan and Angad feature in announcement video
The Mumbai Indians announced Jasprit Bumrah's return to the team on social media with a video titled "Ready to Roar." The star pacer is anticipated to miss Monday's April 7 game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium.
In the announcement video, Sanjana Ganesan shares with Angad the narrative of his father, Jasprit Bumrah, and his career with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
“Angad, let me tell you a story. In 2013, there was a cub who entered this jungle. A jungle full of runs, sixers, and boundaries. Where everyone was scared, he showed courage. Over the years, he fought many battles. He fought for survival, he fought for his pride.
Then he lost, but never gave up. These battles left him with scars. But these scars didn’t stop him. Once a cub, now the lion. The lion is back. He is back to be the king of this jungle again,” Sanjana Ganesan, Jasprit Bumrah's wife, said.

MI, which has lost three of its first four games in the T20 event, will greatly benefit from Bumrah's return.
Their bowling assault is strengthened by the experienced cricketer's comeback, which also brings experience and poise under duress. The 31-year-old pacer, who is renowned for his accurate yorkers and ability to change momentum, might be the game-changing element Mumbai needs to restart their campaign.
