India lost the five-match Test series of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 by a 3-1 margin, but their premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, ended as the leading wicket-taker of the series with 32 scalps in nine innings at an average of 13.06 and a strike rate of 28.37, shouldering on three five-wicket hauls and a couple of four-wicket hauls at the best bowling figure of 6/76 in an innings.
The Blue Brigade made a fantastic start in the series with a cracking 295-run victory at the Optus Stadium in Perth. But they could carry the same form for the rest of the series and faced three defeats in the next four games, one of which ended in a draw thanks to the persistent rain at the Gabba in Brisbane.

Sam Konstas came into the home side during the four Melbourne Boxing Day Tests and grabbed the attention with a fine fifty on debut as he drilled Jasprit Bumrah for a few exciting shots around the park. But, both the players faced each other in a heated argument during the fifth Sydney Test.

The Gujarat bowler was prepared to bowl the last over of the opening day in Sydney to Usman Khawaja. Konstas walked into the middle to waste a few minutes, which fumed the Indian pacer. On the very next delivery, he sent back Khawaja and gave a fierce look at the New South Wales batter.
In a recent show, the host asked Jasprit Bumrah about their interaction, and the Ahmedabad-born came up with a hilarious reply as he was asking whether everything was okay at home.
“I don't know if you will be feeling something else, and I mainly asked him, 'Is everything okay?' Is your mother fine, is everything at home fine?' He said 'Yes, it's fine?' to which I said 'Now, I will bowl'. You guys must have interpreted it as something else. I think the lack of words may have caused some miscommunication.” Jasprit Bumrah expressed during a promotional event.
“Incidents like these happen when the game is close. We were wasting some time; they were trying to do it as well. But that's not the best example. I am not angry all the time, but sometimes, it happens.” The veteran pacer addressed.
Jasprit Bumrah reacts to earning several ICC awards in Dubai
Jasprit Bumrah missed the Champions Trophy 2025 for India with a back injury but made an appearance on February 23 in Dubai during the clash against Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) offered him the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year and ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and became part of the Men’s Test and T20I team of the year.
“It feels really good. As a child, I'd seen some of my childhood heroes win this (Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy) award. Always a privilege when you get such an honor.” Bumrah reacted.

He was the second leading wicket-taker of the T20 World Cup 2024 with 15 scalps in eight innings at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of just over four.
Jasprit Bumrah can make a comeback in the IPL
Bumrah is expected to be back in action in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He can perform for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23.
India will hope to get back the veteran pacer during the upcoming England series in June this year.
