India’s wicket-keeper batter, Jitesh Sharma, has informed his wish of gifting the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy to Virat Kohli, as he will play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after shifting his base from the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
The 31-year-old played nine T20Is for the blue brigade as he thumped 100 runs at a strike rate of 147.05 with the best score of 68 runs. He marked his debut in the shortest format in 2023 against Nepal during the Asian Games before his last international contest came against Afghanistan in 2024.

Jitesh Sharma’s three seasons of the league have come for the Punjab Kings from 2022, as he has overall clubbed 730 runs in 36 innings at an average of 22.81 and a strike rate of 151.13, shouldering on the best score of unbeaten 49 runs. In 2023, he smashed 309 runs at a strike rate of 156.06.

He revealed that he wanted to gift Virat Kohli his maiden IPL trophy, besides claiming the difference between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership.
“I wish to gift Virat Kohli that as much as I can, and I want to win the 2025 IPL for him. It’s not like that the individual hasn’t given us anything. He keeps on pushing every single year.” The 31-year-old expressed during the recent podcast on CricXtasy.
“In the case of Suryakumar Yadav, I think two leaders mix up to become one leader who can make you comfortable and punish you. Rohit bhai is a bit different. You can easily go to him and suggest something, and he will appreciate it,” Jitesh Sharma addressed.

The young wicket-keeper batter pointed out that he wants to enjoy the strong fan base of the RCB side. When the latter made a trip to Mohali, he was attracted by the loud cheer of the Bengaluru fans.
“I am excited to play in the fanbase. When I played one game for PBKS against RCB at Chinnaswamy, the way the latter was cheering for the franchise was incredible. When they came to Mohali, people were still roaring RCB’s name and that attracted me a little. So I want to feel that.” Jitesh Sharma explained.
When he was asked to highlight his view on the controversial remark of one-six winning the ODI World Cup, he changed the route of the question. Sharma also shared a message for the RCB fans.
“If you need five runs in one ball and you hit a six, that’s equal to scoring a century. You are asking me a controversial question (on whether a six has won the World Cup).” The right-handed batter said.

RCB to start IPL 2025 campaign against KKR
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will open the 2025 campaign on March 22 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens.
Jitesh Sharma will also play with Liam Livingstone from the Punjab Kings for the RCB franchise. He will keep wickets for the upcoming edition and contribute with the big shots in the lower middle order. Their first game at home will be against the Gujarat Titans on April 02.
