South African star pacer Kagiso Rabada’s sudden disappearance from the ongoing IPL 2025, where he played for the Gujarat Titans, was a huge shock. He played the first three matches for the GT franchise in the IPL 2025, but after playing his last game on March 29, the franchise revealed that Rabada had flown back home for personal reasons.
And now, it has been revealed that Rabada’s home visit in the middle of the IPL 2025 was not actually for personal reasons. According to a recent Rapport story, Rabada went home after being detected for using a forbidden substance.

Sources claim that the prohibited medication in question is a relaxing aid rather than a performance enhancer.
According to reports, the substance's nature is still being confirmed, but it has nothing to do with any desire to obtain an advantage over competitors. However, its use is classified as a substance that the government has prohibited.

Rabada is still anticipated to play in the IPL 2025 later this season, despite the controversy. On Monday, May 5, the Gujarat Titans are anticipated to issue a formal statement regarding the matter, which could offer additional insight into the occurrence. To address the issue, the pacer has issued an official statement.
After testing positive for a recreational substance, Kagiso Rabada is currently serving a provisional suspension, according to a statement from the South African players' organization. The chemical was not performance-enhancing, the pacer explained.

While expressing his sincere apologies for disappointing his fans, he made it clear that he doesn't take playing cricket for granted. Kagiso Rabada, who is currently on a provisional suspension, is committed to playing the game he loves again.
“As has been reported, I recently returned to South Africa from participating in the IPL for personal reasons. This was due to my returning an adverse analytical finding for the use of a recreational drug. I am deeply sorry to all those whom I have let down."
"I will never take the privilege of playing cricket for granted. This privilege is much larger than I. It goes beyond my personal aspirations. I am serving a provisional suspension, and I am looking forward to returning to the game I love playing,” Rabada posted on X.
The South African speedster expressed gratitude to his family, his legal team, the Gujarat Titans, the South Africa Cricket Association (SACA), and his agent for their support. Rabada is resolved to get over this difficult period and keep playing with zeal and dedication.
“I couldn't have gone through this alone. I'd like to thank my agent, CSA, and Gujarat Titans for their support. I'd also like to thank SACA and my legal team for their guidance and counsel."
"Most importantly, I'd like to thank my friends and family for their understanding and love. Moving forward, this moment will not define me. I will keep doing what I have always done, continuously working hard and playing with passion and devotion to my craft,” he added.
