Kane Williamson, the former New Zealand captain, eclipsed ace Indian hitter Virat Kohli on the elite list of batters with his stunning performance against South Africa in Lahore. Williamson became the second-fastest player to achieve 7,000 ODI runs in the second game of the present tri-series against South Africa.
Williamson had missed the majority of 50-over contests for nearly 18 months due to persistent injuries. However, his typical steadiness is still present. He had already demonstrated his form by scoring 58 runs against Pakistan in New Zealand's first tri-series match in Lahore.
South Africa's debutant opener Matthew Breetzke scored a superb 150 from 148 balls to assist the team to 304/6. New Zealand began strongly, hitting 50 runs in the first ten overs before losing opener Will Young.

The momentum shifted when Kane Williamson arrived. In only 155 balls, he and Devon Conway combined for 187 runs. Conway fell just short of a century, being removed for 97 off 107 balls, but Williamson got his century in just 72 deliveries.
Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham had a brief collapse when Senuran Muthusamy bowled them out in the 39th over. Williamson, on the other hand, led New Zealand to victory with Glenn Phillips by his side.
New Zealand qualified for the final, which is set to take place on February 14, after winning both of their league matches. They will meet the winner of the Pakistan-South Africa game, which is slated for February 12.
