The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the new list of centrally contracted players for the Indian men's team for the 2024-25 season on April 21, 2025. A total of 34 Indian players were awarded central contracts by the BCCI on Monday.

The Board categorizes its central contracts into four grades: A+, A, B, and C. The A+ category is reserved for all-format regulars, while the C grade is given to recent debutants across formats. The retainership fees for each category are INR 7 crore for A+, INR 5 crore for A, INR 3 crore for B, and INR 1 crore for C.

List of Players Retained, Promoted, Demoted, and Removed in Central Contracts

The latest central contracts list saw veteran players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja retained in the Grade A+ category, along with Jasprit Bumrah. Players in this category earn INR7 crore annually.

The Grade A category includes six players. While the total number of players in this category remains the same, one new player has been added.

Rishabh Pant has been promoted to Grade A, replacing Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently retired from international cricket. Pant was previously in Grade B during the 2023-24 season as he was recovering from a life-threatening accident.

Grade B Players

The Grade B category consists of Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shreyas Iyer has made a return to the BCCI central contracts after being omitted last year. His stellar performances in domestic cricket played a crucial role in his reinstatement.

Iyer was instrumental in Mumbai’s successful season, contributing to their victories in the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). Additionally, he led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2024 championship.

Grade C Players

The Grade C category includes 19 players, among them Ishan Kishan, who has also returned to the central contracts. Kishan had lost his contract last year after refusing to play domestic cricket despite strong urgings from the BCCI and the Indian team management.

Players in the Grade C category include Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Rajat Patidar, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Reddy, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep, Varun Chakravarthy, and Harshit Rana.

BCCI Central Contracts List Features 7 New Players

The expansive 34-player central contracts list includes seven new faces: Nitish Kumar Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, Abhishek Sharma, Sarfaraz Khan, Akash Deep, Varun Chakravarthy, and Harshit Rana. This is their first time receiving a BCCI central contract.

These players will earn INR 1 crore annually. Six of them made their debuts for Team India last season. The only exception is Varun Chakravarthy, who briefly represented India but was dropped soon after. He made his India ODI debut in 2025.

Last year's home Test series against England saw the debuts of Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, and Akash Deep, while Harshit Rana debuted during the Test tour of Australia. Abhishek Sharma made his debut in the T20I series against Zimbabwe last year.
