Former Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary has criticized Rajasthan Royals’ lower-order batter, Shimron Hetmyer, besides predicting that there could be an internal rift between the management and coach during the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League.
For two consecutive chases, Rajasthan fails to chase down the score from a comfortable position against Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants.
“When will Shimron Hetmyer win games for Rajasthan Royals?”- Manoj Tiwary
The former Indian batter, Manoj Tiwary, has raised questions over Shimron Hetmyer’s contribution to the inaugural champions this season. He reckoned that the left-handed West Indies batter hadn't won any match for the franchise despite getting the huge responsibility and being retained by the management.

“When will Shimron Hetmyer win games for the Rajasthan Royals? He is the only overseas player over whom they have given the responsibility to win them games in the death overs.” The former batter was addressed during a recent discussion on Cricbuzz.
“But every time after getting dismissed, he keeps on jumping as if the ball could have been placed here and there, and he would have easily got a boundary or an over boundary to win the game for the side.” Manoj Tiwary mentioned.
Hetmyer has nailed 176 runs in eight innings of the IPL 2025 at an average of 25.14 and a strike rate of 153.04, thanks to one half-century at the best score of 52 runs.
“See, it’s a bitter truth that as a player, you've got to perform. There are many moments when we, as pundits, blame coaches and the captain, but when will these players stand up and raise their hands to win the game for the side? We are in the halfway season of the tournament, and the bat hasn’t talked yet.” The 39-year-old explained.
Manoj Tiwary predicts internal rift in Rajasthan Royals
The veteran was stunned by how the management didn’t send the two set batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana, in the super over, while he pointed out Sanju Samson’s absence in the huddle during their planning for the six-ball event.
If you saw the last game, Mitchell Starc undoubtedly bowled well, but they got a couple of balls that you could have nailed into the stands. So, there is some issue.” Manoj Tiwary exposed.
“As I mentioned earlier, it appears to be an unsettled team. In the previous contest, when discussions were going around the super-over, your captain wasn’t present in the huddle, and then you didn’t send Nitish Rana into the middle.” The Howrah-born shed light.
He couldn’t understand why the Royals sent both Hetmyer and Riyan Parag, despite both batters not finding the right timing with the bat.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal didn’t get to face a single ball, and you sent Riyan Parag and Hetmyer, who were not in form at all this season. So, all of these things reflect their situation. We played for a long time, and I can see that easily. There is no need for rocket science to predict what’s going on.” Manoj Tiwary concluded.

Rajasthan Royals stay in eighth position
Rajasthan started the tournament with two successive defeats before earning two consecutive victories to get back on track. But their poor planning and a few nervy moments have stolen the victory from their jaws.
For two back-to-back games, they failed to chase run-a-ball and are now sitting in eighth position among the ten franchises with two wins in eight games at a net run rate of -0.633.
