Matthew Wade, a former Australian wicketkeeper, will be the Gujarat Titans' assistant coach in the Indian Premier League season (IPL 2025). Gujarat Titans announced on their social media handle.

Matthew Wade played for the Titans in both the 2022 and 2024 IPL seasons. The wicketkeeper-batsman appeared in two matches in 2024 but had little effect with the bat. Wade played most of his IPL matches for the Gujarat Titans. He has played 15 IPL matches but does not have a terrific record. He scored 183 runs, with an average of 13.07 and a strike rate of 103.39.

Wade has been an old servant of GT

Wade played the most IPL matches in a single season in 2022, with ten for the Gujarat Titans. He scored 157 runs that season, with an average of 15.70 and a strike rate of 113.77. It was the Titans' maiden IPL season, and they won under Hardik Pandya's leadership.

Wade did not enter his name for the IPL 2025 mega auction because he had announced his retirement from international cricket. The wicketkeeper-batsman was a significant member of Australia's T20I team for a long time.

He scored 1202 runs in 92 matches, with an average of 26.13 and a strike rate of 134.15. Wade was instrumental in Australia's title-winning T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. He hit a sensational 41 off 17 balls against Pakistan to propel Australia to the final. He blasted two fours and four sixes during his innings.

Matthew Wade joins Gujarat Titans as assistant coach

Just days before the start of the 2018 IPL season, the Gujarat Titans announced Matthew Wade's employment as their assistant coach for IPL 2025 via social media. Wade returns to the franchise's locker room, but this time in a different role.

The Australian keeper will join the head coach Ashish Nehra, batting coach Parthiv Patel, assistant coaches Aashish Kapoor, and Narender Negi in the coaching set-up.

“Champion. Fighter. Now our Assistant Coach! Welcome back to the GT Dugout, Matthew Wade!," Gujarat Titans captioned on X.

KKR and RCB to kickoff IPL 2025

The reigning champion Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru will square off at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22 to kick off the IPL 2025 season.

The Gujarat Titans' season will begin on March 25 in Ahmedabad against the Punjab Kings. After two successful seasons in 2022 and 2023, they will be seeking to improve after finishing ninth the previous season.
