Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) coach Zaheer Khan has issued a comprehensive update on Mayank Yadav's fitness ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). He stated that they are working with the NCA officials to ensure the pacer's fitness since he is important to both their squad and Indian cricket.

Mayank Yadav's career has been hampered by several injuries, which have prevented him from enjoying a longer run in both the IPL and Indian cricket. In fewer games, the pacer has had a significant impact and possesses the X factor.

Mayank has been struggling since the last IPL

Mayank played well for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024; however, he was injured after a few games. Following his recuperation, he made his debut for India's National Cricket Team in a series against Bangladesh.

Mayank had a fantastic start to his international career, taking four wickets at an economy rate of 6.92. However, he was ruled out of the series against South Africa and has not played since.

Mayank was one of the Lucknow Super Giants' top retentions ahead of the 2025 IPL season. The best fast bowler was retained for INR 11 crore, making it the joint second-highest retention for LSG along with Ravi Bishnoi.

"A bowler of his caliber should play consistently for a long time. I’m putting in effort and energy to give him the best environment to play longer. We want him 150% fit, so we will do everything possible to get him in top fitness,” he added.

LSG has named Rishabh Pant as their captain for IPL 2025. The keeper-batter became the costliest buy in the history of the league as he was acquired by the franchise for INR 27 crore.
