Ahead of the IPL 2025 matchup with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mitchell Santner, an all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians (MI), provided a vital report on colleague Karn Sharma. Karn Sharma, who suffered a hand injury, is not expected to play in the IPL El Clasico, according to Santner.

On Sunday, April 20, Mumbai will play the Chennai Super Kings in the crucial IPL 2025 match at the Wankhede Stadium. The Hardik Pandya-led club will be looking to keep up their momentum against the Super Kings, who are at the bottom of the league, after winning two straight games.

Karn blew off Delhi Capitals

Taking three wickets and winning Player of the Match, Karn Sharma was instrumental in the Mumbai Indians' victory over the Delhi Capitals. However, the veteran leg spinner needed treatment for a hand injury he got while fielding, which prevented him from bowling in their subsequent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

On Thursday, April 17, at Wankhede Stadium, the Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad with ease despite Karn's absence. With two wickets for just 14 runs in his 3-over performance, Will Jacks was the most impressive bowler. With four wickets remaining, the home team accomplished the goal of 163.

Karn Sharma Ruled Out of the MI v CSK match?

Mitchell Santner disclosed during a news conference on Saturday that Karn Sharma needed several stitches for a hand injury. Santner added that the cut appeared to be pretty significant and that he was unsure if he would be available for the match on Sunday.

“He has got a couple of stitches in his hand. He’s here today, I’m not sure if he’s bowling or if he’s available for tomorrow, but it looked like a nasty little cut, and it’s a shame," Santer said in the pre-match press conference.

Noor Ahmad is a huge threat: Mitchell Santner

Noor Ahmad, a left-arm wrist-spinner, is the Mumbai Indians' greatest danger, according to Mitchell Santner. Ahmad can be unstoppable on slower wickets that provide assistance, the 33-year-old cricket player continued.

“I guess the mystery — he’s hard to pick at times — we’ve seen through this tournament, especially in Chennai, where there has been a little bit of assistance, he’s been outstanding. If it is going to be a slightly slower wicket like last game, we know he’s going to be a challenge. If they go to other spinners, they will be as well. You’ve got to be quite smart against him. If he gets on a roll, he’s pretty tough to stop. As we’ve seen, he has bowled extremely well," Santner added.

With 12 wickets from seven games at an average of 14.15 and an economy rate of 7.12, Noor Ahmad is the second-highest wicket-taker. He took four wickets against the Mumbai Indians to start the season.
