Mohammad Rizwan, the captain of Pakistan, has given an audacious statement after the team's 0–3 ODI series defeat against New Zealand.

He stated that the team will put its failures in the Champions Trophy 2025 and the New Zealand tour in the past, and hoped that the nation will now enjoy the PSL.

New Zealand Humiliate Pakistan

The circumstances are very different from subcontinental surfaces, Rizwan said, adding that New Zealand beat the Men in Green in both white-ball formats.

Pakistan lost the third and final ODI at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Saturday, April 5, by 43 runs, capping the white-ball tour of New Zealand. In a rain-shortened 42-over encounter, the visiting team was bowled out for 221 runs while chasing a goal of 265. Interestingly, Pakistan also suffered a 1-4 loss in the T20I series.

Mohammad Rizwan says New Zealand deserves all the credit

Babar Azam's return to form with consecutive fifties was one of the positives mentioned by Mohammad Rizwan during the post-match presentation. Rizwan acknowledged that New Zealand was the better team, though.

"This was an important series for us. Babar Azam found good touch with consecutive fifties, while Sufiyan Muqeem bowled exceptionally well. In the last match, Naseem Shah rediscovered his rhythm with the new ball.

We must give full credit to New Zealand - all their departments have been performing consistently well for months now. The conditions here are very different from Asian pitches, yet they've adapted brilliantly, just as they did during our home series," Rizwan said.

During the series, they made it a priority to expose young bowlers to New Zealand conditions, according to the wicketkeeper-batter. The experience will help them grow in the future, Rizwan continued.

"In New Zealand, new ball bowling is crucial. We've deliberately focused on developing our young bowlers during this series - this experience will only make them better," Rizwan added.

Now the nation will enjoy the PSL: Mohammad Rizwan

Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged that New Zealand outperformed Pakistan. "There are no excuses for the series loss," he said. After the team's previous disappointing results, Rizwan believed that fans would find delight in the forthcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL).

"When you lose, there aren't many excuses to make. While we had some strong individual performances, New Zealand simply outplayed us overall. We will leave the past and look ahead to the PSL. Hopefully, the nation will enjoy as we didn't give them the results," he concluded.

On April 11, the Pakistan Super League's tenth season is scheduled to start. In the first game, Islamabad United, the reigning champions, will play Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
