MS Dhoni at 43 years of age has started showing signs that his body is no longer keeping up with the rigors of the fast paced cricket in the IPL 2025. Captaining Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after injury to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhoni led the team to their first win after 5 straight losses in the tournament.
Their win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow has put CSK back in contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs with 8 points from seven games.
After winning the toss, MS Dhoni chose to bowl first for CSK. LSG reached 166/7 after 20 overs, thanks to the contributions of Mitchell Marsh (30), Ayush Badoni, and Abdul Samad. Rishabh Pant surged into form, scoring 63 runs (4 fours and 4 sixes). Both Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja of CSK claimed two wickets.
Dhoni and Dube finish it off for CSK vs LSG
Rachin Ravindra (27) and Shaikh Rasheed (37), working together, helped CSK respond brilliantly and score 52 runs. But the middle order struggled, with Rahul Tripathi and Ravindra Jadeja's single-digit scores being explained by Ravi Bishnoi.
To help CSK advance, Shivam Dube exchanged 57 unbroken runs for the sixth wicket with MS Dhoni. Dube hit 43* in 37 balls with three fours and three sixes.
As the side won by five wickets in the last over, the seasoned CSK captain struck 26* with four fours and one six. Additionally, Dhoni received the Player of the Match award.
MS Dhoni was seen limping as CSK dealt with concerns of injury for their veteran captain
In the remaining games, Dhoni might be a major blow to the Chennai Super Kings. While playing for the Lucknow Super Giants, the veteran was observed having trouble with his right knee. He had a limited amount of time behind the stumps and was not at his best when it came to keeping wickets.
The veteran was not at his best, despite finishing the match with a run-out and a successful stumping. The 43-year-old was observed hobbling up the dressing room steps before taking the field. He was seen limping after finishing a single because he felt uncomfortable.
MS Dhoni was seen walking with a noticeable limp in a widely shared video that was captured by a fan at the Lucknow team hotel.

It is possible that he might miss a few games if the injury worsens. The team needs Dhoni following their dismal start to the season, thus, he will need to carefully control his exertion.
