MS Dhoni’s parents, Pan Singh and Devaki Devi, and his wife, Sakshi, and daughter Ziva, were seen in attendance as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Delhi Capitals on April 5, 2025, at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This is a day match of the double header.

The presence of his parents gave a layer of gravitas to Chennai Super Kings' IPL match against Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk on Saturday.

Dhoni's family is present in Chennai

Since their son's affiliation with CSK started in 2008, this was the first time Dhoni's parents had come to see an IPL match here. Despite frequently attending IPL games in Chennai, Dhoni's wife, Sakshi, and daughter Ziva were also present.

If regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad did not recover in time after a knock to his unprotected elbow against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati last Sunday, there were rumors that Dhoni would take over as captain of CSK.

Social media is abuzz with speculation of MS Dhoni’s retirement from the IPL

Will Dhoni retire? Could his remarkable IPL career come to an end with today's matchup against the Delhi Capitals? When a pundit revealed that Dhoni's wife and parents were at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium, speculation erupted.

Fans started to question whether they had come to see the iconic cricket player play one final time because the game was being played at CSK's home field and Dhoni's family was present.

In 237 games, the CSK legend has played for the team. He has amassed 4,715 runs with a strike rate of 139.46 and an average of 40.30 in these games.

Pragyan Ojha speculates on Dhoni’s final game in IPL

Not only the fans but former India player Pragyan Ojha, who played his final Test under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, also indicated whether MS Dhoni will retire from the IPL after this match against Delhi Capitals.

Ojha took to the social media platform X and stated that he felt that MS Dhoni’s famous ‘definitely not’ when he was asked about retirement in the previous few editions is behind them, and it might be time that Dhoni takes retirement from the IPL.

“I have a feeling the time for ‘definitely not’ might be behind us. #CSKvDC #TATAIPL,” he posted on X.
