Mumbai Indians' Player Gets Rape Accused In The Middle Of IPL 2025; FIR Filed

Shivalik Sharma, a former Mumbai Indians star, has found himself in hot soup. A rape case has been registered against his name and the FIR was registered at the Kudi Bhagatsani police station in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

At his base price of INR 20 lakh, Shivalik Sharma was selected by the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 mini-auction, however, he was never allowed to make his debut for Mumbai Indians.

The left-handed batter plays domestic cricket for Baroda under the guidance of Krunal Pandya, who is now playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2025.

Shivalik Sharma’s career in numbers

Shivalik made his debut in the first division as a teenager in 2018, although he had a difficult start after being sent off for a duck against Chhattisgarh. He has since recovered well, though, scoring 1,087 runs at an average of 43.48 in 18 games.

With a peak score of 188, he has three hundreds and five fifties to his credit. He has occasionally bowled, although his leg spin has only resulted in one wicket. In 13 List A games since making his domestic one-day debut in 2023, Shivalik has amassed 322 runs at an average of 29.27.

In the format, he has taken two wickets and amassed two fifties. Shivalik has participated in 17 T20 matches and amassed 349 runs with a strong strike rate of 147.88 and an average of 24.92. In the game's shortest format, he has two fifties to his name.

Mumbai Indians' Shivalik Sharma faces rape charges after FIR lodged

According to Sports Tak, Shivalik Sharma, a former cricket player for the Mumbai Indians, has been charged with rape. Shivalik has been accused by the young woman of engaging in a sexual relationship with her while promising marriage.

According to reports, the youngster has already had a medical examination and had her statement recorded in court. Even though Shivalik is still evading capture, the Jodhpur police have begun searching for him.

The police issued a statement

She said in her statement that after Shivalik's parents called her to Baroda in August 2024 and announced they were seeking a new female for their son, the situation changed.

“A woman, a resident of Sector 2, Kudi Bhagatasani, has levelled allegations against cricketer Shivalik Sharma. The woman had gone for a walk in Vadodara in February 2023, where she met Shivalik.:

"Their friendship gradually turned into a romantic relationship, and they would speak for hours over the phone. Both families met in 2023, and the couple got engaged. After their engagement, they engaged in physical relations,” ACP Anand Rajpurohit was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.
