Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), visited the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Saturday, February 22, to meet with the national squad before their crucial match against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday, February 23.
The purpose of the PCB boss's visit was to provide the Pakistan National Cricket Team players with all the support they needed for their crucial match against the India National Cricket Team on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Mohsin Naqvi encourages Pakistan team ahead of India match in Dubai
After losing to New Zealand by 60 runs in the tournament's opening match on February 19 in Karachi, Pakistan's campaign got off to a poor start. This setback put them in a vulnerable position in the group stage and prolonged their losing run against the Black Caps, which now stands at three straight losses since the Tri-series.
Before the highly anticipated match, Naqvi told the media that he had complete faith in the team's potential to make a comeback. He emphasized that Pakistan had the firepower to mount a resurgence despite the pressure.
The PCB chairman also addressed the media in Dubai, where he emphasized the importance of staying focused and maintaining a positive mindset, as they are in a tough spot to secure a place in the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Pakistan is fully prepared: Mohsin Naqvi warns India
Before Pakistan's eagerly awaited match against India, Mohsin Naqvi expressed his faith in the team's performance and preparation. The Pakistani players are in excellent form and prepared to face the Men in Blue in Dubai, the PCB chief emphasized.
Additionally, he stated that regardless of the outcome of Sunday's India-Pakistan match, the players will always have the support of the PCB.
“It will be a great game. Definitely, our team is fully prepared, and in my opinion, they are in good form. Let's see what happens next. But we stand with them, whether they win or lose,” Naqvi was quoted by ANI.
With only three group-stage games left for each country, the match against India has turned into a near-must-win for the team captained by Mohammed Rizwan.
India flying high before IND vs PAK clash
India, meanwhile, is full of confidence going into the match after defeating Bangladesh handily in Dubai on February 22. With a brilliant all-around performance, the Rohit Sharma-led team improved their standing in the group and became the clear favorite for the next match.
The path ahead is far from straightforward for Pakistan. Following the New Zealand defeat, their net run rate took a serious hit, making their chances of qualifying even more difficult.
The injury to star batsman Fakhar Zaman, who famously destroyed India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, is making matters worse for them. His absence creates a significant hole in the batting order, which increases the burden on Pakistan's top order to fill it.
