PCB Takes Major Step After Fan Intrusion During BAN vs NZ Champions Trophy Clash

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken harsh action against the man who violated security during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match between Bangladesh and New Zealand. The two teams faced off on Monday (February 25th) at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
A spectator entered the field of play during Bangladesh's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against New Zealand. It occurred in the second innings when Black Caps hitters Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham were on the crease.
The pitch invader broke through security and walked directly towards Rachin Ravindra as the fan attempted to hug the batter, but security authorities intervened to stop him. He was quickly removed from the field.
PCB issues official statement on intruder on the field during Champions Trophy clash in Rawalpindi
The Pakistan Cricket Board issued an official statement regarding the matter, stating that it had spoken with local security agencies and would strengthen security. The board also stated that it is its job to safeguard the safety of the players and officials.
"The PCB has taken serious note of the security breach that occurred yesterday when a spectator entered the field of play. Ensuring the safety of players and officials remains our top priority. As a responsible organization, we have engaged with local security agencies, who have committed to increasing security personnel around the field of play at all venues and strengthening access control measures," read the statement of the PCB.
Individual arrested and presented before a court- PCB
The PCB statement further stated that they had detained the guy who violated security and barred him from accessing any cricket facility in Pakistan. They agreed that they would work closely with security agencies to ensure that such instances do not occur again.
"The individual involved was arrested and presented before a court of law today (Tuesday). In addition, he has been permanently banned from entering all cricket venues in Pakistan. To prevent such incidents in the future, the PCB is working closely with security agencies and venue authorities to review and reinforce security protocol,” the statement added.
New Zealand and India qualify for the semi-finals of Champions Trophy 2025
In the New Zealand vs. Bangladesh match, BlackCaps captained by Mitchell Santner emerged victorious with ease. They advanced to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final with their second straight tournament victory.
In contrast, the Pakistan National Cricket Team has been disqualified from the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. They lost the opening match against New Zealand by 60 runs, which put them in a bad position to start the competition. They then lost by six wickets to India in Dubai. The team captained by Rohit Sharma also advanced to the semifinals.
