According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is incensed about not receiving an invitation to the Champions Trophy 2025 final presentation ceremony. The PCB will probably voice their disapproval of this issue to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
It should be mentioned that during the presentation ceremony for the Champions Trophy 2025 final held in Dubai, Pakistan, the host nation did not have any representatives on stage. Since the host nation was involved in the tournament's organization, it was an awkward moment for them.
BCCI and ICC representatives led the Presentation Party
The BCCI president Roger Binny, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, and ICC chairman Jay Shah were among the dignitaries who took the stage to present the awards to the officials and players. The PCB did not, however, provide any representation.
PCB set to take action against ICC after being ignored for presentation ceremony
As the tournament's director, Sumair Ahmed, the CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board, was at the location, but he was not invited by the ICC to take the stage for the final, according to a PTI report.
Due to a misunderstanding, Ahmed—the sole representative of Pakistan at the location—was not invited to the final presentation ceremony. The insider also disclosed that Sumair Ahmed was dispatched to represent Pakistan since Mohsin Naqvi was unable to travel because of certain obligations.
"PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi didn't go to Dubai because of prior commitments as federal minister for interior but the PCB CEO was sent to represent Pakistan at the final and closing presentation," the PTI report stated.
Since they have the right to have a representation on stage as the competition's hosts, the PCB is probably going to file a protest about this issue with the ICC. Pakistan hosted the tournament, even though part of the matches were played in Dubai.
India is not playing in Pakistan
Pakistan was chosen to host the event in the first place and was initially granted full hosting rights. However, the BCCI asserted that the Indian government's rejection prevented them from sending the Indian squad to Pakistan.
Consequently, it was agreed upon by both parties that India will use the hybrid model to play all of their matches in Dubai. The three Pakistani cities of Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi hosted all of the other games.
Depending on India's presence, either Lahore or Dubai was to host the final. India's victory in the first semi-final made it obvious that the final would take place in Dubai rather than Pakistan.
