Even in 17 seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) failed to win a single trophy, becoming one of the three original sides of the franchise tournament alongside Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings to carry the trophyless cabinet.
The franchise has always struggled to form a balanced side in the entire campaign for most of the seasons. And playing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, despite all the crazy fans, they have found the bowling department tough to deal with.
Jitesh Sharma drops jaw-dropping prediction on RCB’s IPL journey
Jitesh Sharma is the new wicket-keeper who has joined the RCB franchise for the 2025 edition from Punjab Kings and hopes to deliver the trophy to Virat Kohli as a gift. He is also confident of winning five successive trophies in the next five years if they continue the same performance throughout the campaign.

“Once our time comes, RCB might win trophies for five years straight,” Jitesh claimed during a recent interaction on CricXtasy.
The 31-year-old will replace Dinesh Karthik in the playing eleven for the new season. He clubbed 187 runs in 12 innings of the IPL last year at an average of 17 and a strike rate of 131.69, shouldering on the best score of unbeaten 32 runs.
Overall, the Maharashtra batter has drilled 730 runs in 36 IPL innings at an average of 22.81 and a strike rate of 151.13, with the best score of unbeaten 49 runs. He hopes to do well for the Rajat Patidar-led side.
RCB’s performance in IPL campaigns
In the inaugural season of the tournament, Bengaluru finished at the seventh position, as Rahul Dravid was their leading run-getter with 371 runs. Their better performance in the very next season saw them ending as the runners-up of the event, losing the final to the Decan Chargers.
Their brutal show continued in the next two editions as they finished at the third position in 2010, with Jaques Kallis ending as the top run-getter with 572 runs. Chris Gayle was the leading run-getter for the franchise in the next three consecutive seasons with 608, 733, and 708 runs.
Apart from their runners-up finish to Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2011, nothing worked for them in 2012 and 2013, as they failed to qualify for the playoffs for the next three years. In 2014, things went downhill, with a finish, at number seven. But they made a cracking comeback to finish at three in 2015 and nearly claimed RCB’s first title in 2016.

After that, they again failed to qualify for the playoffs in three successive seasons in 2017, 2018, and 2019. From 2020 to 2022, they ended among the top four sides, before slipping at six in 2023. They had a dramatic turnaround last year with seven successive victories to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament.
