The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) gets trolled for their social media post during the home clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Before this contest, the Rajat Patidar-led team had lost both their home fixtures in the IPL 2025.
Despite not earning the home victory, the 2016 runners-up are at a stable position in the points table with four successive away wins in the event against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and the Rajasthan Royals.

Just before the start of the home game, RCB declared a special offer for the fans with a quick commerce partner. They promised free delivery for 30 minutes whenever they crossed 100 runs. But they failed to reach the target by five runs and were restricted to 95/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

The fans reacted to the post in many ways. Most of them reminded the past moment when the franchise announced the initiative during a match in IPL 2020/21 where they would financially help a Covid-warrior for every six they would hit. But they ended up with no over-boundary in their entire batting.
Persistent rain since the afternoon in the city meant that the game didn’t start at the scheduled period. All the players and the coaches spent time in the dressing room as it kept on drizzling till around nine in the evening.
Virat Kohli, the former RCB captain, and Shreyas Iyer, the present PBKS leader, spent a long time talking in the dressing room while Ricky Ponting, the Punjab Kings, was busy in discussion with the other staff members of the side.
Just after the rain ended, the superb sub-air system of the ground soaked the water underneath and made it perfect conditions for the game to continue. The umpires decided that they would go on with 14 overs per side with four overs for the powerplay.

RCB batting collapse to 95/9 in 20 overs
Phil Salt started with a glorious boundary on the very first ball of the innings against Arshdeep Singh. But the Indian left-arm pacer was smart enough to pull the length ball. Three balls later, the right-handed batter looked to pull the short ball and was caught by the wicket-keeper, Josh Inglis.
Kohli made the same mistake of judging the bounce of the track. The RCB captain, Rajat Patidar, looked good at the start for his 23 runs in 18 balls but was foxed by Yuzvendra Chahal, who returned with figures of 2/11 in three overs.
Wickets kept on falling from one end until Tim David decided to free his arms. The veteran creamed 50 unbeaten runs in 26 balls, shouldering on five boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 192.31 to carry the side to 95/9 in 14 overs.
Nehal Wadhera carries PBKS over the winning line
Punjab also faced trouble with the bat in hand. Josh Hazlewood’s fabulous figures of 3/14 in three overs broke the back of the side, especially after the dismissal of Shreyas on seven runs in 10 balls.

PBKS was under immense pressure towards the end of the chase before Nehal Wadhera nailed an undefeated 33 runs in 19 balls, thanks to three boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 173.68, to guide the side over the winning margin by five wickets with 11 balls to spare.
RCB, due to the defeat, drops down to fourth position in the points table with four wins in seven games, while Punjab goes up to the second position with five victories in seven fixtures.
