Rohit Sharma, Indian skipper, might not play in his team’s final group B stage match on March 2 against New Zealand. This match will be played in Dubai and is just a dress rehearsal as both India and New Zealand have qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

From Group A, India and New Zealand have advanced to the Champions Trophy semi-finals. With wins over Pakistan and Bangladesh, Team India guaranteed their place. In order to join Rohit Sharma's team in the final four, New Zealand also won matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh.

However, Rohit Sharma might not be fielded in this encounter as the Indian skipper is reportedly dealing with a hamstring injury.

Rohit Sharma oversees Indian training session without heavy participation

India resumed training at the ICC Academy after defeating Pakistan. Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami appeared to be in terrific form, although Rohit Sharma was cautious because of a hamstring issue. Before the semi-final matchups, the team concentrated on maintaining their winning streak.

The players engaged in a strenuous two-hour practice under the lights following a two-day hiatus. Football, laps, and shuttle runs were among the warm-up exercises that started the practice. Rohit stayed away from physical exertion. He stayed with the team before net practice, but he stayed out of the spotlight while others gave their all during training.

Under the guidance of the Strength & Conditioning Coach, Rohit began jogging. He didn't appear to be moving comfortably, though. He had suffered a hamstring strain while playing against Pakistan. Despite his Wednesday training, the Indian captain insisted that everything was OK.

Rohit Sharma skips throwdowns; Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami face off in nets

The 37-year-old only practiced shadow hitting and avoided taking on even mild throwdowns. He also talked with other coaching staff members and head coach Gautam Gambhir. The Indian team hopes that their skipper recovers in time to play in the Champions Trophy next.

Virat Kohli batted for over an hour before hitting a century against Pakistan. The right-handed batter showed great control on his cover drives and hit the ball cleanly. During the workout, Kohli also faced throwdowns and deliveries from both spin and seam.

India battling with injuries

Mohammed Shami, who played two consecutive games with little time for recuperation, raised concerns. During the game against Pakistan, he took a brief break from the field to tend to his ankle.

On Wednesday, though, he didn't appear uncomfortable. Shami bowled to KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and Kohli with all of his might. Bowling coach Morne Morkel, who had returned to the team following a personal emergency, regularly criticized the seasoned fast bowler.
