The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on March 04 has announced that they have decided to increase the salary of the players as well as the match fees. But the premier left-arm spin all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, is yet to get his payment for the last four months of his contract.
Shakib has not featured in the national side since the last of the two-match Test series at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur against India, where he wished to make his farewell in Mirpur during the opening of the two-match red-ball series against South Africa.
BCB reveals the reason for Shakib Al Hasan’s nonpayment in the last four months
The officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), as reported by Cricbuzz, have revealed that they couldn’t disburse the money as Shakib’s bank account has been frozen for a long time.

“Indeed, he (Shakib) is yet to receive salary for September, October, November, and December, and that is largely due to the fact his bank account got frozen.” The board official working closely expressed on March 03.
The reports have claimed that Shakib Al Hasan would receive BDT 48 lakhs (nearly 35 lakhs INR) excluding the taxes. During the ninth board meeting that was held on February 12 last year, the board announced the central contract list for 2024 where the veteran won an all format contract alongside Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Shoriful Islam.
The former captain of the Tigers has smashed 4609 runs and picked up 246 wickets in the longest format, besides getting 7570 runs in the ODI format. Thanks to his left-arm spin, the spinner has grabbed 317 scalps in 241 innings at an average of nearly 30.
He has already announced his T20I retirement but in all likelihood, he won’t feature for the Bangladesh side anymore in the future.
Shakib Al Hasan's recent tough time
During the unrest situation in the country, Shakib was accused of being involved in a murder case, but the board allowed him to keep on playing until proven guilty. The board also assured the all-rounder that he would not face any trouble if he were to return to Bangladesh.
After playing two historic Tests in Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan flew to England for a one-off county stint with the Surrey Club before returning to India. He was also part of the Major League Cricket (MLC) after the T20 World Cup in the USA.
The all-rounder received a huge blow on November 06 when his bank account was frozen. While Shakib Al Hasan announced his retirement from the shortest and longest format of the game, he was eyeing a comeback in the Champions Trophy. But he failed to cut due to the suspect bowling action.
BCB chairman assures to fulfill Shakib Al Hasan's payment
The BCB cricket operation chairman, Nazmul Abedin, has expressed in an interaction with Cricbuzz that Shaib Al Hasan would receive his fourth month’s payment as per the agreement.

"He (Shakib) will get his salary as per the agreement because whether you play or not, there is an agreement in place, and certainly, we will try to fulfill our commitment as per the agreement.” Nazmul draws attention to the matter.
Bangladesh didn’t enjoy a great time in the Champions Trophy. They failed terribly with defeats in both the first two games against India in Dubai and New Zealand in Rawalpindi. Their last league stage contest against Bangladesh ended in a washout affair.
