Shreyas Iyer Bags Massive ICC Award Amidst IPL 2025

Shreyas Iyer, an Indian batter, was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2025. He received the award thanks to his amazing performances in India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win in Dubai.

Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy from New Zealand were also nominated, but Iyer won the honor because of his strong achievements.

Iyer had great success in the Champions Trophy 2025

The batter became the second Indian cricketer to win the award this year, following Shubman Gill's success in February.

Shreyas Iyer scored the most runs for India in the ICC Champions Trophy. During the group stage in Dubai, Iyer scored a critical 79 runs against New Zealand on a tough pitch.

The 30-year-old batsman made 45 runs in the semi-final against Australia. He ended the competition with 48 runs in the final against New Zealand. The Rohit Sharma-led side successfully chased down the mark, winning the ICC 50-over trophy for the first time since 2013.

Iyer scored 243 runs in five matches, with an average of 48.60 and a strike rate close to 80. He was the second-highest run scorer, after only Rachin Ravindra.

Shreyas Iyer, who was named Player of the Month, told the ICC that receiving the title was an honor. He expressed how much the Champions Trophy triumph meant to him, stating that it will be a memorable experience.

This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month where we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever. Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of.

Shreyas Iyer is doing well for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025

Shreyas Iyer presently captains the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL season. He has helped the squad win three of its five matches. The right-handed batter has 250 runs in five games, with an 83.33 average and a 208.33 strike rate.

Iyer's performance has also put him in contention for a recall to the T20I team. The middle-order batsman is poised to rejoin the BCCI's pool of centrally contracted players.
