The former Indian middle order batter, Ambati Rayudu, has slammed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) before the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) regarding their paid comments on the franchise to control their narrative.

Rayudu has also blasted on the RCB side for not winning a single trophy in the 20-over league so far. He has also suggested the Play Bold army to focus on the game in the upcoming editions.

Ambati Rayudu takes a brutal dig at RCB ahead of IPL 2025

Rayudu has been after the RCB side since the latter eliminated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the last contest of the IPL 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In that game, the Faf du Plessis-led side kept Super Kings under a respective total and earned the qualification with a strong net run rate (NRR).

Rayudu feels that focus on the game would be more helpful for the 2011 runners-up, who are one of the three sides among IPL’s eight original franchises, to not win a single title yet with the Delhi Capitals and the Punjab Kings.

“Instead of spending money on paid pr and paid comments to control the narrative and focus internally and on cricket, you might just come close to winning.” The Hyderabad-born expressed on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Ambati Rayudu mocks RCB for over-excitement with group-stage victory vs CSK

After the victory in the group stage of the previous IPL at home that carried the side to the playoffs from an unexpected place, Rayudu took a cheeky dig at the red side for making better plans to achieve what the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side has achieved so far in the history.

“If you talk about RCB today, it shows that only passion and aggressive celebrations don't win you trophies. You need to plan. You didn't get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. You have to play with the same hunger.” The veteran claimed.

“Don't think you will win the IPL trophy just by beating CSK. You will have to come next year once again.” The former batter concluded.

The Bengaluru-based franchise started their campaign for the IPL 2024 with a defeat before winning the second account against the Punjab Kings to open their account. They couldn’t earn a single victory in the next six encounters. At that point, it looked impossible for the Challengers to get into the playoffs.

The 2016 runners-up went on to turn the tables, winning six successive tournament games and finishing in fourth place on the points table. They won seven games and had a net run rate of 0.459.
