Stephen Fleming Wants MS Dhoni And CSK To Take Lessons From RCB

Stephen Fleming, the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has encouraged his team to take inspiration from Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) recent IPL 2025 season comeback. Fleming is certain that the side captained by MS Dhoni will be able to win the final six games and get to the playoffs this season.
After eight games, the Chennai Super Kings are currently in last place in the IPL 2025 points standings. To stand a chance of qualifying for the playoffs, they need to win each of their final six games. At the Wankhede Stadium, CSK lost badly to the Mumbai Indians (MI) by nine wickets in their most recent match.
Still hopeful of winning 6 out of 6: CSK’s Stephen Fleming eager to follow RCB blueprint
Stephen Fleming said he was certain his team could learn from RCB's great run last year before their next game against SRH. CSK can win all of their remaining games, Fleming underlined.
"We're still hopeful of winning 6 out of 6, and some will giggle at that, but RCB set a blueprint for that the year before," Fleming said.
With only one victory from their first eight IPL 2024 games, RCB was at the bottom of the standings. Their final victory came against CSK, but they won all six of their remaining games to finish fourth and guarantee a postseason berth. One of the biggest comebacks in IPL history, according to some accounts.
Fleming stated that the team is also getting ready for the possibility that the comeback may not happen, and they will select the best players for their next match.
"So while there's still a chance, we have one eye on making sure that we think the best players for this game coming up will play, but we're also aware that if it doesn't work out, that we've got to make the most of what has been a poor season," the CSK head coach added.
On Friday, April 25, the five-time champions will play SunRisers Hyderabad in Chennai's M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
There Won't Be a Wasted Game or Opportunity - Stephen Fleming
Stephen Fleming also addressed MS Dhoni's recent comments that if they are eliminated from the playoffs, they should concentrate on the future. According to Fleming, the club has won trophies in the past thanks to their ability to utilize transitional moments.
"And the work we did a couple of times, we were in this position in the past, set us up to win the title the following year. So we're certainly aware of what needs to be done and how we can go about it.
"There won't be a wasted game or an opportunity in the next few weeks, and the players know that as well. And that creates opportunity and creates a bit of competition within. We won't let any time go to waste,” said Fleming.
