“Thanks To Shubman For..”- Abhishek Sharma Reveals Secret Behind His Record Breaking IPL Century

Abhishek Sharma revealed that he played with the bat that Shubman Gill had gifted him after he scored a record-breaking century in the ongoing IPL 2025. He stroked the highest individual IPL score by an Indian as he helped Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) chase down 246 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Saturday.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) squared off in Hyderabad on April 12 in the 27th IPL 2025 match. After winning the toss, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer decided to bat on a pitch that was favored by batsmen.
PBKS started and finished strongly
With 66 runs in just 4 overs, Priyansh Arya (36) and Prabhsimran Singh (42) put PBKS ahead. After that, Shreyas Iyer had an incredible innings, scoring 82 runs off just 36 balls, including six fours and six sixes.
PBKS reached a huge total of 245/6 in 20 overs, thanks to contributions from Marcus Stoinis, who hit four consecutive sixes in the last over and pounded 34 not out off only 11 balls, and Nehal Wadhera (27).
Eshan Malinga, who made his debut, took two wickets for SRH, while Harshal Patel collected four wickets for forty-two runs. Nevertheless, Mohammad Shami had a difficult game, giving up 75 runs in his four overs, including four sixes in the final over.

With 93 runs in 7 overs, Travis Head (66 off 37) and Abhishek Sharma gave SRH the start they needed. Yuzvendra Chahal took the lead, but Abhishek Sharma persisted in his attack, hitting his first-ever IPL century with 11 fours and 6 sixes in just 40 balls.
He enthusiastically celebrated his accomplishment, even thanking the Hyderabad crowd for their support in a note. He struck 14 fours and 10 sixes before being dismissed for 141 runs in 55 balls.
With nine balls left, SRH triumphed by eight wickets, thanks to Heinrich Klaasen (21*) and Ishan Kishan. The second-highest successful chase in IPL history was achieved by SRH with a total of 246 runs.

Abhishek Sharma, the opener for India and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), disclosed that he utilized Shubman Gill's bat to reach a fast-paced century. After the match, Abhishek told the official IPL website that he had forgotten to thank Gill.
"One more mention I forgot to make. Our last game was against GT, and sabko pata hoga maine kiska bat liya phir se [Everyone might know whose bat I had asked for]. Thanks to Shubman for giving his bat. I had specially written that I wanted to do something for the Orange Army, and I think it was my lucky day as well,” Abhishek Sharma said in the post-match presentation.
"It is very special, my father has watched me since my U-14 games. He has watched each and every ball I have played. If you have zoomed him, you will know, and he is my first coach as well. It is very special when you have your parents watching. Ask any player, and they will tell you a mother's blessings are very special. I always wanted to do well, knowing that my parents have come from far to watch me play,” he added.
