The former coach of the Pakistan side, Mohsin Khan, has dropped a shocking verdict on Virat Kohli not being at the same level as Babar Azam in international cricket. He reckoned that the former Indian captain would never come in close to Babar’s quality.

The shocking statement of the former Pakistan coach came after the Green Brigade’s early exit from the Champions Trophy 2025, thanks to their two successive defeats against New Zealand and India in the eight-team tournament.

Babar Azam’s poor performance in the Champions Trophy 2025

Since the start of the year 2025, Babar has lost his charm with the bat in the Champions Trophy. In the opening fixture of the tournament against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi, the former captain of the Green Brigade clubbed 64 runs in 90 balls during a 321-run chase and received so much criticism worldwide as they failed to open their account.

Babar again got a decent start in their second do-or-die encounter against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with a few early boundaries but failed to stretch the good work in the powerplay. It was a pity that Rawalpindi's foul weather didn’t manage the Mohammad Rizwan-led side to get their last group-stage fixture against Bangladesh.

Babar finished the tournament with 87 runs in two innings as he carried his struggle from the tri-series at home against New Zealand and South Africa.

Virat Kohli’s huge contribution for India in the Champions Trophy 2025

Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain, wasn’t in great touch in international cricket, with his failure in the five-match Test series in the Border Gavaskar Trophy and the home ODI series against England. The right-handed batter drilled a half-century in the third fixture at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli struggled for his 22 runs in 38 deliveries against Bangladesh on a slow and tricky Dubai surface. The Delhi-born took more than 30 deliveries to nail his first boundary and ended with the sticky knock at a strike rate of nearly 60.

The 36-year-old celebrated his 51st century in the ODI format as he managed an unbeaten 100 runs in 111 deliveries, shouldering on seven boundaries, against Mohammad Rizwan’s army at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Virat Kohli will hope to carry the same form in the last league game against New Zealand, going into the knockout stage of the competition.

Pakistan’s former coach discredits Virat Kohli in comparison with Babar Azam

The former coach of the Pakistan side, Mohsin Khan, has dropped a bombshell statement where he reckoned that Babar is way ahead of Virat Kohli in terms of quality in the game. But he also felt that they should only discuss their cricket structure, which has lacked strategy, merit, and pure planning.

“First of all, let me tell you something. Virat Kohli is nothing before Babar Azam; he is a huge zero. But we are not talking here about who is a better player. We are here to talk about Pakistan cricket, which they have destroyed with no planning, strategy and merit. They don’t even have accountability in them. The former right-arm pacer of the side expressed during a live show.

Pakistan will travel to New Zealand next for a T20I and ODI series and will hope for a better performance with the bat and ball in hand. The selectors can also look to inject freshness into the squad.
