On Wednesday, April 23, cricketer Virat Kohli of Team India took to social media to denounce the horrific terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam. The former captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) called the terror assault "heinous" and said he was saddened by the innocent people who died.
At least 26 people were killed Tuesday when terrorists opened fire on a gathering of Hindu tourists in the Baisaran Valley, close to Pahalgam. Since the Pulwama assault in 2019, this was one of the deadliest attacks to hit the Kashmir valley. The loss of innocent lives caused by the gunfire has left the country traumatized and furious.
Deeply saddened: Virat Kohli on Pahalgam terror attack
In a sad Instagram message, Virat Kohli expressed his deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and prayed for strength and serenity for everyone impacted. In addition, Kohli demanded that justice be done for this heinous act.
“Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to families of all those who lost their lives and justice to be served for this cruel act,” Kohli posted on his official Instagram profile.

Currently competing in the IPL 2025 are Virat Kohli and several Team India players. Calls to cut cricket links with Pakistan have been rekindled after the incident.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been advised by former Indian cricketer Shreevats Goswami to terminate all cricket-related activities with Pakistan. India and Pakistan last faced off in the 2025 Champions Trophy, where the team captained by Rohit Sharma prevailed.
Ritika Sajdeh and Anushka Sharma also post messages in tribute; Pakistan blamed for terror attack
On her Instagram account, Rohit Sharma's wife, Ritika Sajdeh, expressed her feelings on the horrific Pahalgam terror tragedy.

At close range, four terrorists opened fire on visitors, authorities said. After asking the male tourists if they were Muslim or Hindu, the attackers targeted them specifically, according to the victim's daughter, who spoke to PTI.
She claimed that although there were other visitors around, the terrorists singled out male tourists after inquiring about their religious affiliation.
Anushka Sharma pays homage
Official confirmation from Indian officials is still pending, but sources indicate that Pakistan supported the latest terror incident in Pahalgam. The already difficult cricketing relations between India and Pakistan, which were broken off following the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, have been further strained by the incident.
In addition, Virat Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma, also posted a story on Instagram to mourn the deadly terror attack.
