Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will return to international cricket action as India takes on England in three ODIs starting February 6. Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has revealed how long the duo continue playing for India.

Kevin Pietersen praised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, reminding everyone of their legendary reputation amidst criticism and concerns over their weak batsmanship ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Pietersen has stated that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli do not need to prove anything to anyone, as they are already true legends of the game.

Kevin Pietersen calls Virat Kohli as greatest finisher in ODIs

The cricket expert praises the two Indian cricket heroes for their unrivaled ability to amuse fans all over the world and believes they still have a few years remaining to do so.

“These guys don’t need to prove anything to anybody. They are legends of the game and they are wonderful entertainers. These guys have another couple of years. I absolutely love both of them,” Pietersen told Star Sports.

The former England cricketer also described Kohli as the greatest chaser in cricket history. He emphasized how the former Indian captain has single-handedly won innumerable matches for India.

“He is the best chaser that you ever had in this country. There is no single batter in the world that has chased and won more games for the country than Virat Kohli. When he turns up, he’s got to play,” Pietersen added.

Virat Kohli will be coming into the England ODIs with virtually no runs behind him as he made 190 runs in Australia Tests and 5 runs in the Ranji Trophy match he played for Delhi.

Rohit Sharma is 'going to be very, very special' player: Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen reflected on Rohit Sharma's path, recalling the early days when the current Indian skipper was just coming into the Indian cricket team.

The Englishman also remembers Rohit's reckless style, particularly against fiery pacers, where he smashed them for soaring sixes with effortless pull shots, even in Australia. Pietersen stated that after witnessing Rohit's explosive start, he knew he would become one of the greatest batters of the current age.

“I remember back in 2012... I think there was a bit of criticism about him, and I said this young kid is going to be very, very special. He needs to be looked after and played with. The guy was so good at the start and has continued to be great ever since,” Pietersen said.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who recently received criticism for their poor performance in the BGT 2024-25 in Australia, have arrived in Nagpur to join the Indian camp ahead of the forthcoming three-match ODI series against England.

The first ODI will take place on February 6 in Nagpur, followed by the second and final ODIs on February 9 and 12 in Cuttack and Ahmedabad.
