India’s former middle order batter, Ambati Rayudu, has roasted the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) before the 2025 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has appointed Rajat Patidar as the new leader for the upcoming season after they left out Faf du Plessis for the upcoming three years.
RCB enjoyed a great second half last year but failed to qualify for the final of the tournament, as they lost the second qualifier of the tournament against Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Ambati Rayudu laughs at RCB before IPL 2025
The former batter for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) roasted the RCB side again during a recent podcast show, as he reckoned that the Bengaluru franchise won’t need to wait longer before winning their first title, but he would pray to ignore it this year.

“It's only a matter of time before RCB wins a trophy, but I'm praying it doesn't happen this year,” Rayudu mentioned in a recent podcast.
Last year, the batter, who has won multiple IPL trophies with the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai side, didn’t have any name but hinted towards the top three names of the side, Virat Kohli, Faf and Glenn Maxwell, for their lack of responsibility in crucial games.
“Their bowlers always concede over par runs, and their batting unit performs under par. Who are all batting in pressure situations? The young Indian batters and Dinesh Karthik. The big international names, who are supposed to take the pressure, where are they? All are back in the dressing room.” Rayudu mentioned on Star Sports after the franchise lost their contest against the Lucknow Super Giants.
The veteran also termed that one of the biggest issues for the side is that their senior batters consume the powerplay overs, leaving less time for the field restrictions.
“Sixteen years. This is the same story of RCB when there is pressure. No big name is ever found standing. All youngsters are playing at the back-end, and all the big guns bat at the top of the order, and they whip off the cream from the cake, and that is the reason this team has never won IPL.” Ambati Rayudu explained.

RCB’s journey in IPL 2024
The 2016 runners-up started the tournament with a defeat against Chennai but returned well with a victory against Punjab. They faced six consecutive defeats before beginning the winning journey with the victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs.
Their vital win against Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs on May 18 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium against Chennai qualified them over the line for the playoffs. But they could not repeat the same performance in the Eliminator against the Royals.
