Shubman Gill, captain of Gujarat Titans (GT), seemingly disrespected LSG captain Rishabh Pant during the customary handshake between all the players. This happened after the GT team lost to LSG in Ahmedabad in their recent IPL 2025 match on May 22.

After the game, many are wondering why Gill chose to disregard Pant. Is it because LSG dashed GT's hopes of finishing in the top two spots in the points table, or is it because Gill and Pant are the front-runners for the Indian Test team's captaincy?

Although Rishabh Pant hasn't been playing well this season, he delivered his team a spectacular conclusion yesterday when he came in the last overs and smacked two sixes in six balls.

Shubman Gill got off to a strong start by aiming pacers during the powerplay before coming into the crease to chase a massive 236-run total. Gill was dismissed by Avesh Khan in the eighth over of the innings after scoring 35 runs in 20 balls.

Considering how hot Gujarat has been in the IPL 2025, this was also a rare occasion in their innings where none of their top three batsmen achieved a half-century.

Shubman Gill ignores Rishabh Pant during team handshakes

Everyone was lining up for the traditional handshake in the closing seconds of the game after LSG defeated GT in a commanding manner. After losing to the team that had already been eliminated from the tournament, Gill emerged from the pavilion with a disgruntled expression.

GT had a good opportunity to solidify their place in the top two IPL points. The wicketkeeper appeared to be speaking to Gill as he passed him, but Gill quickly ignored him and went on to the next player.

Since LSG players were celebrating their win and nobody was noticing the divide between them, players chose to overlook the incident on the ground.

As Shubman Gill ignored Pant, fans took notice of the tension between the two players and began posting on social media.

LSG crushes GT away from home

In the first inning, LSG scored 235 runs thanks to Mitchell Marsh's brilliance. With 117 runs in just 64 balls, Marsh achieved his first IPL century.

Another unbroken quick-fire half-century was scored by Nicholas Pooran. Gujarat never appeared to be pursuing the mark in response, but Shahrukh Khan's 57 off 29 gave Gujarat hope. But nobody from the lower order came forward, and the game ended in a 33-run loss.
