Arshdeep Singh, the fast bowler for the Punjab Kings, demonstrated some of his cunning during the IPL 2025 match against the Gujarat Titans. Shreyas Iyer chose to use right-arm quick Vijaykumar Vyshak as an Impact substitute because of Arshdeep's quick thinking.
The Titans' momentum was halted by Vyshak's less costly overs, which proved to be a game-changing play. However, Arshdeep Singh decided on the team's Impact Player, not captain Shreyas Iyer.
Arshdeep quickly saw that Vijaykumar Vyshak's balls escaping from the left-hander would be challenging for Rutherford to manage once he reached the crease. Arshdeep and Marco Jansen were Punjab's two left-arm pacers in the starting lineup up until that point.
But Vyshak's entrance added some diversity to the assault. Rutherford would have had an easier time playing his shots through the leg side if Jansen and Arshdeep had both brought the ball into the left-hander.
Arshdeep Singh signals for Vijaykumar Vyshak to be called in as an impact sub
After applying saliva to the ball at the beginning of the over, Arshdeep Singh noticed that it was swinging backwards. He believed that the hitter would find it challenging to manage Vyshak's reverse-swinging balls away from the left-hander, and the strategy was successful.
Arshdeep Singh took the crucial wicket of Sai Sudharsan in the thirteenth over of the Gujarat Titans' innings. Arshdeep motioned for Vijaykumar Vyshak to be brought on as the Impact substitute, and left-hander Sherfane Rutherford took his place at the crease.
The left-arm pacer used Vyshak's name and even made a motion that seemed to refer to the right-arm pacer, who came in to bowl the game's fifteenth over and helped his team turn the tide.

Vijaykumar Vyshak keeps Sherfane Rutherford quiet, costing GT the match
Sherfane Rutherford had trouble getting the ball across the boundary line and labored for his first few balls. The difference in the end came from the numerous balls he missed, some of which were even complete throws.
All of the Titans' momentum was destroyed as Vyshak's first two overs went for just ten runs. Although his 0-28 numbers might not seem noteworthy, they contributed to his team's triumph.
Only 23 runs could be scored by Rutherford off his first 18 deliveries. Even though he picked up speed in the closing moments, it was too late. After hitting four fours and three sixes in 28 balls, the left-hander was out for 46.
