Even though Multan Sultans registered their first victory of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season, it was the slip of the tongue from the former chairman and commentator, Ramiz Raja, that stole the spotlight after the encounter.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, when Ireland’s left-arm pacer, Josh Little, won the award for the best catch of the game, Raja made a massive blunder. The video didn’t take much time to get viral, as Raja didn’t even bother to correct himself despite understanding his mistake.

The incident took place at the Multan Cricket Stadium on April 23 after the end of the fixture between the home side and the Lahore Qalandars. Ramiz Raja, the renowned commentator, was hosting the post-match presentation party.

He committed the huge blunder while appreciating Little for his fantastic catch, to dismiss the Lahore opening batter, Fakhar Zaman, during the second innings of the game. The Ireland pacer walked to the gentleman to collect his ‘Catch of the Match’ award.
While praising his effort, Raja accidentally ended up calling it the ‘Catch of the HBL IPL’ instead of ‘HBL PSL.’
The video of the incident has gone viral on various social media platforms, with a section of the fans demanding an apology from the former batter for his huge mistake.
It’s coincidentally the first time the PSL is sharing the same window as the Indian Premier League due to the country hosting the tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa before the Champions Trophy in January and February.
The tournament has already found its place in the news due to the funny gifts to the team members. Karachi Kings gifted a hair dryer to James Vince. Lahore gifted a 24-carat gold-plated iPhone 16 Pro to their captain, Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Multan Sultan posted their highest PSL score
Winning the toss on a flat surface, Multan captain Mohammad Rizwan decided to bat first. Yasir Khan, the young opening batter, drilled a fine knock of 87 runs in 44 balls at a strike rate of 197.73, thanks to six boundaries and six over boundaries.
Usman Khan and Rizwan also contributed with a few decent 30+ knocks before Iftikhar Ahmed smashed 40 unbeaten runs in just 18 balls, shouldering on three boundaries and three sixes to carry the side over the 225-run mark. It was Multan’s highest team score in PSL history.

Most of the Lahore bowlers didn’t have any answer to the firing batting. Haris Rauf, known for his expressive pace, returned with figures of 0/54 in three overs at an economy rate of 18. Afridi, the Lahore captain, had a poor evening with figures of 1/43 in four overs. The only stand-out bowler for the visitors was Asif Afridi, who ended with 1/26 in four overs.
Lahore fell short by 33 runs
Fakhar Zaman’s wicket was the key for Multan to get a good start in the defense, and they sent back the southpaw for 32 runs in 14 balls. Sam Billings tried his best with 43 runs in 22 balls.
Even Sikandar Raza smacked an undefeated knock of 50 runs in just 27 balls, thanks to five boundaries and three sixes at a strike rate of 185.19, but the target was too far from their reach. Lahore fell short of the target by 33 runs to help Multan secure their first victory of the PSL 2025 season.
