And now to compound their problems, Chennai Super Kings' scout for IPL has disclosed that the franchise management ignored the names he suggested, like Priyansh Arya, Aniket Verma, and more, in the IPL 18 auction in Saudi Arabia.

These names were later picked up by other franchises like Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025 auction.

According to one of Chennai Super Kings' scouts, he suggested a number of young cricket players to the team before the 18th season. The Chennai Super Kings are well known for supporting seasoned athletes over up-and-coming talent.

He claimed in a widely shared video that he had suggested the names of young, talented athletes like Priyansh Arya, Vipraj Nigam, and Aniket Verma, but the Chennai Super Kings management chose to ignore them.

Instead, they invested in talented veterans who are battling for fitness this season, such as Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

“I watched some of the matches of the UP and Punjab leagues. I recommended the names of Priyansh Arya, Vipraj Singh, Swastik Chikara, and Aniket Verma to CSK. My job is to give the names to CSK,” the scout said in a video by Cricket Gully.

This information was shocking because Chennai Super Kings later purchased Rahul Tripathi, Deepak Hooda, and Ravichandran Ashwin during the high-profile auctions. Even though each of these players is having trouble with their form this season.

Chennai Super Kings makes huge mistakes in IPL 2025 auction

At the Narendra Modi Stadium, Priyansh hit 47 runs off 23 balls in his first IPL match for the Punjab Kings against the Gujarat Titans. In the Delhi Capitals' one-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants, Vipraj claimed a wicket and scored 39 runs off 15 balls.

Against the Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad's Aniket Verma scored 74 runs off 41 deliveries.
