Former cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Shahid Afridi addressed questions from Indian and Pakistani fans. They also offered their predictions for the victor of the highly awaited India-Pakistan match in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The ICC Champions Trophy is returning to the cricket calendar for the first time since 2017 when Pakistan won their first title by defeating India in the final. The 2025 edition of the tournament is officially hosted by Pakistan, although Team India will play all of its matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, UAE.
India and Pakistan to Highlight CT 2025
India and Pakistan are in Group A with Bangladesh and New Zealand for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which starts on February 19. Pakistan leads India in the tournament, having won three of their five encounters. Their highly anticipated duel will take place on February 23 in Dubai.
Tickets reportedly sold out in minutes, even though India-Pakistan matches are now only played at major competitions. Earlier, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif suggested that the Men in Green's actual task should be to defeat the Rohit Sharma-led side rather than simply win the next event.
Pakistan Have the Upper Hand in Dubai - Yuvraj Singh
Star Sports has prepared a star-studded panel that includes former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu, as well as former Pakistan captains Inzamam-Ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi. The panelists gave their thoughts on which team had the advantage going into the match.
Yuvraj Singh believes Pakistan has an advantage because of the circumstances in Dubai, whilst Navjot Singh Sidhu believes India is a stronger and more balanced team. Inzamam-Ul-Haq claimed that both sides are evenly matched, and the outcome would be determined by their body language on the day.
Experts Predict the winners
Yuvraj Singh: In Dubai conditions, Pakistan would have an upper hand.
Sidhu: India is a much better, balanced side.
Haq: Both the teams are equal. It also depends on the teams' body language on the day.
Shahid Afridi stated that Pakistan was initially certain of victory. However, India's passion and intensity on the field made him realize from the sidelines that chasing the aim may be impossible.
“Attitude and body language will tell you which team is going to win. Honestly, we (thought we) had won the 2011 World Cup. But after our first wicket fell and the way India's body language changed in the field, I got a feeling sitting outside that we may not be able to score the runs. So it's all about body language and how you overpower the other team,” Afridi said.
