Ishan Kishan, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter, identified the players he most enjoys batting with and listed his top five favorite opening partners in IPL history. Notably, Chris Gayle, David Warner, and Virat Kohli—some of the best openers in the T20 tournament—were left out by the wicketkeeper-batter.

Saturday, March 22, marked the start of IPL 2025. Opening batsmen are essential in T20 cricket because they set the tone for their team, particularly in the powerplay overs. By maximizing scoring possibilities in the first six overs, a potent opening pair can lay the groundwork for the middle order.

Ishan Kishan sets IPL 2025 on fire with fiery debut ton for SRH

Ishan's performance against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in SunRisers Hyderabad's (SRH) IPL 2025 opening match was outstanding. Kishan hit an undefeated 106 runs off 47 balls while batting at number three. Notably, he helped SRH reach 286/6 in 20 overs, marking his first IPL century.

At the IPL 2025 mega-auction, Kishan was purchased by SRH for ₹11.25 crore. Following his innings on Sunday, the southpaw disclosed that, in light of the team's audacious strategy, he had contacted teammate Abhishek Sharma to inquire as to whether he needed to attack every ball. The tone for SRH's commanding tournament debut was established with his knock.

Ishan Kishan listed his top five favorite opening partners in IPL history in an interview with the Crick Fantasy Boss YouTube channel. In addition to Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Abhishek Sharma, he featured the renowned Indian batsmen Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar.

None of the top five run scorers in IPL history were selected by Ishan to be openers. Among the top scorers in IPL history as openers are Shikhar Dhawan (6362 runs), David Warner (5910 runs), Chris Gayle (4480 runs), Virat Kohli (4411 runs), and KL Rahul (4183 runs).

After a challenging period, Ishan Kishan's century marks a major turning point in his career. Due to an unimpressive IPL season and the loss of his BCCI central contract in early 2024, the youngster was unable to compete in the T20 World Cup or any national tournaments.

The 2025 IPL is essential for players hoping to make the 2026 T20 World Cup roster because India has a quality pool in the T20 format. Kishan is up against fierce opposition as he attempts to regain his position in the national lineup.

On Thursday, March 27, SRH will take on the Lucknow Super Giants in Hyderabad (LSG).
