The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have enjoyed a fine victory in IPL 2025 against the Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Bajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. This is a fresh victory for the side, which was coming off a hard defeat at home against the Punjab Kings.
Their head coach, Justin Langer, marked a humorous moment during the press conference at the end of the game when he picked up a call from the reporter’s mother to answer the questions.

Langer was attending the presser when he saw a phone, kept near his podium for recording audio, was ringing with the owner’s mother calling. He picked up the call and sparked a laugh amongst the reporters in the conference.
“Who is Maa? Whose mum is ringing? Do you want me to answer? Mum, it’s 12:08, and I am in the press conference.” The former Australian opening batter reckoned in the presser.

The pressure was on the LSG coaching management to repeat their all-around performance from the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad after just one victory in the first two group-stage fixtures.

LSG head coach provides Mayank Yadav’s fitness update
Langer also discussed how the side’s breakout star pacer, Mayank Yadav, is recovering well from the injury at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and is expected to return to action for the side shortly.
“What I do know is he's working very hard at the NCA, and I saw some video of him bowling yesterday [Thursday], and he was bowling at about 90 to 95%. So Mayank's up and running, which is great for Indian cricket for IPL.” JL expressed in the press conference.
“We saw the impact he had last year. I don't think there's been a bowler in India who's bowled faster than Mayank Yadav. That's why there's so much talk about him.” The Western Australian revealed.
Mayank bowled one of the fastest spells of the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the previous season against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Delhi pacer also returned with magical figures in his debut T20I series against Bangladesh, but hasn’t been in action since then.
The LSG head coach hopes to see the fast bowler back on the ground just like they got both Avesh Khan and Akash Deep in the park.
“He's up, he's keen to get going. He bowled well in Bangalore yesterday at the NCA. I think you have another couple of bowls.” Langer added.
“Hopefully, for NCA, to their credit, they have done a very good job because they've got Avesh Khan back for us, they've got our Akash Deep back for us. So we appreciate the work they're doing to get the boys back playing and now hopefully Mayank as well.” The LSG head coach concluded.
LSG earns a 12-run nervy victory vs Mumbai Indians
Put into bat first, LSG reached 203/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to Mitchell Marsh nailing 60 runs in 31 balls at a strike rate of 193.55, while Aiden Markram also celebrated his half-century.
Mumbai was in the chase, thanks to Naman Dhir’s incredible batting inside the first six overs before Suryakumar Yadav took the charge with a fine 62-run knock. But none of these was enough to save them from the 12-run defeat. They didn’t get the desired support from Tilak Verma, who got just 25 runs in 23 balls before retiring out.
