In a controversial video going viral online, a Mumbai Indians (MI) staffer was seen talking on a mobile phone after speaking with MI captain Hardik Pandya during their recent IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
After being put in to bat first, the Mumbai Indians struggled and were limited to 155/8. Will Jacks (53), Suryakumar Yadav (35), and Corbin Bosch (27) were the standout performers in an otherwise underwhelming innings.
While defending the total, Mumbai Indians staged an impressive comeback following a rain break, led by Jasprit Bumrah’s efforts. However, after another rain interruption, the Gujarat Titans required 15 runs in the final over.
Deepak Chahar failed to hold his nerve, delivering a costly no-ball and conceding a six to Gerald Coetzee, sealing the win for GT.

Several keen-eyed cricket fans saw something amiss while watching the game. As Hardik Pandya was making his way down to have a talk with the umpires regarding the resumption of the match, as the rains stopped, fans pointed out how an MI staffer was using a mobile phone.
In the viral video, Pandya is seen walking down the steps from the Wankhede pavilion and making his way to the boundary ropes. He says something to an MI staff member, who is wearing an MI practice kit. The member was on the phone, and as soon as he received word from Pandya, he quickly relayed it back on the phone.
